"Yes. I'm ready to start EDT. I watch the others on social media do it. Only thing I'm worried about is staying awake that long lol. Maybe I'll start small with lunch in france. I could do with EDT buddy " You get over the tiredness pretty quickly when there's so much to explore . I'm very envious of people local to Stanstead, they have so many more option's

"I've done quite a few now and planning many more . So far I've been on an EDT to Paris Dublin Copenhagen Ibiza Rome Geneva. Venice My plan for summer is to fill up a week of them. Go somewhere from each location every day . I'm also hoping to do Barra from Glasgow to land on the beach! They can get a bit addictive ." That's amazing, I was looking at Dublin last night, the flight costs were so cheap,

Not too long a flight and £25 in a taxi from the airport. Walking round the lake is also lovely. Its a good first time EDT I'd say.

"Done lots in the past when that was more feasible from local airports. From breakfast in Paris to a big frankfurter in Cologne to juicy muscles in Brussels (or Bruges) or somw Irish delights in Dublin and Belfast too. Not for quite sometime though. 😭" Day trips in this country, done plenty. Invitations welcome ![]() ![]()

"A Titanic exhibition is coming to Leeds and it's £23 each. I would much prefer to go to Belfast and see the proper exhibition. " My friend saw the exhibition in Wales, she said it was really good, but it's cheaper for me to get the bus to either Gatwick or Heathrow then fly to Belfast and see the proper exhibition.

"Has anyone done an extreme day trip? It's my latest 'i want to do that' obsession, watched lots of people on YouTube showing their experience, watched a persons video where they flew to Spain and had McDonald's ![]() Have been doing it for years but really then it was work that started it. Copenhagen is good as is Dublin. Amsterdam, Belfast and Geneva too. Paris is also a good one.

"Had an interesting PM basically stating that concept of "extreme" day trips is pretentious, and basically just a social media flex. Anything under 8 hours is not extreme but with travelling far you'd have no time to experience the country so no substance to the travel. Interested to know experienced EDT people's thoughts on this, as I haven't actually done one before. " Haters gonna hate, hate, hate 🤷♂️ Not everyone has the money or time for travelling further or staying longer so I think EDT is a great little adventure.

Not everyone does it to post on social media. It has become something like that now but it is not all about that.

Interested to know experienced EDT people's thoughts on this, as I haven't actually done one before. " I don’t think it’s a social media flex. People have been doing this for many years. Thomas Cook organised day trips to the Loughborough, this is considered to be the birth of modern tourism as we know it. The only this that is SM related about it is the name EDT, but these people are really excursionists as they are not stay there for 24 hours or more.

Paris I did a school trip there, not sure I'd bother returning.

"There is a very active FB group that has lots of tips /ideas. Personally I just don't get it - 1.5 hours to travel to the airport, an hour loitering around waiting for the flight, flying for 3+ hours..just to have 5-7 hours wandering around a city eating lunch and having beers, followed by loitering at airport, flying and traveling home again! " Lol that's basically what my mum's opinion was when I discussed it with her. However my friend who is a nurse was really interested, she does 12 hour days and due to shift patterns she often has 3 or 4 days off and has often been spending her days off on her own, sitting on the sofa watching telly, realising it's a waste she actually booked an overnight 24hrs stay in Spain on her own, sometimes a change of scenery is excellent for recharging yourself ![]()

"Wow that is an impressive run. My son walked 200 miles from Leeds to Bath and it took him a week. " That's probably worse than running 100 miles. Multi day events are really hard as your body ceases up over night and it is hard to get going. Well done yo your son💪
