I have just tipped half a bottle of bright red nail varnish over the bedroom carpet!!!

Not enough varnish remover left in bottle to clear it up and it doesn't work well on carpet from past experience.

Any suggestions on how to remove it would be gratefully received!!

More annoyed about wasting an expensive bottle of varnish than the carpet but its not my carpet so need to rectify the damage!

xx

There isn't much that gets it out but I'd try turps if you've got any, pour it on and try and soak it up rather that scrubbing it as that's only going to make if worse.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

If you've already spread it around with nail varnish remover you might just need to continue whilst it's still wet. If you haven't then perhaps let is dry and break it off where possible to remove the bulk of it before having a go with turps or nail varnish remover.

Bridgwater - Somerset

Not going to be easy.

Has the nailvarnish remover lifted any

colour from the carpet?

If not, suggest you put on all the NVR on the spill. Cover with impermeable plastic.

Obtain more NVR to soak the area well - keeping the spill from drying - then borrow a wet carpet cleaner and attack with heavy detergent mix.

Difficult and you may be left with a pale patch on the carpet.

Good luck.

You need a bottle of acetone from a chemist. Only they sell it. It's like varnish remover x100-its the stuff that melts artificial nails off. Worked a great on green polish on my carpet...however where cleaned the carpet is a little harder than the rest...but only noticeable by me !

Thanks all for you suggestions, on days like today I wish I wore pale shades or clear rather than scarlet!!

Have already covered it with a rug for now but it looks really odd where its positioned and will lead to the inevitable question - what's it hiding!

Luckily its not particularly decent carpet so will be hard to ruin whatever I try!

Thanks again x

trying to clean it with nail varnish remover was the worst thing i did when it happened to me. It made what would have been a patch the size of a 5p piece more like the size of a 5 pound note!

had to replace the carpet!

i would let it dry, they try to pick it off or even cut it it out.
