"Love me a bit of spring gardening. I spent all of yesterday in the garden clearing my flower beds, planting some late flowering bulbs, pulling up (some of the) wild garlic and wild mint and having a general tidy around. I also potted up lots of plantlets from my house plants for a fair on Saturday 🪴 Happy Spring everyone 🌱" Happy Spring Heat and enjoy the plant Fair 🌿

"Going to the allotment late this afternoon after schools out and sowing lots of marigold seeds amongst the daffodils, garlic and onions which are doing great. And then Sunday when I've got my older child with me to do all the heavy stuff we will sow cucumbers, sugar snaps, sprouts, butternut squash and we're going to attempt watermelon too. It's busy time" I'm off to my allotment today. Planting onions sets, new raspberry canes and digging trenches for potatoes. Do you sow those seeds direct into ground or do you have a cold frame ?

"My Hydrangea’s are all budding. I’ve given everything a good feed. Waiting until Easter to cut the grass and give a general spruce up ready for the warmer weather. I’ll be repotting some of my plants into bigger pots shortly and moving my plants about into their Summer locations. They’re all in a sheltered position at the moment. It’s the First Winter I’ve made it through and haven’t killed anything off 💪" What colour are your hydrangeas ? I always wanted a blue one but isn't that soil dependent?

Butternut squash are tricky, they have a long growing time but absolutely hate the cold so can't get them out uncovered too early.🤞

"We've dug the vegetable patch over and put farmyard manure down, the tomato seeds are in and I'll put the rest of the seeds in later this week and early next month. We fed the lawns at the start of the week too. I really hope we have a better year than last, it was dire " Thanks for the reminder, must plant some Tom seeds this weekend. Fingers crossed you have a better year although it's so weather dependent.

"I’ve been in the garden every afternoon this week, it is bloomin cold in the mornings just now. I’ve mostly been cleaning up after the winter, oiling the deck and painting the hut. I’m not sure about cutting the grass as it was frosty this morning and could be for a couple of weeks yet. " Yes, warm atm but feels like frosts could return any time. Definitely be on the cautious side.

I only grow mine in a greenhouse where I refresh soil every year and they're protected from wind that spreads the blight.

"I just sowed 250 marigold seeds , fingers crossed I get some grow and not get eaten by slugs " Coffee grounds, sunken pots of beer and copper tape are all supposed to dissuade slugs from eating you plants. I’ve just started with the beer and copper tape but the coffee grounds worked last year. If the copper tape works I’m going to try stripped down electrical cable as it will be more permanent.

"I've already done a fair bit of the spring garden work. Grass needs raking and its 1st cut. Got myself a battery operated lawn mower and strimmer. Few bits of trellis to buy & put up for clematis. No major jobs left. Just sitting back and enjoy the bulbs and then my perennials 🥰" Love clematis too!! Filling in the panel gaps with them!! Plus honeysuckles too!! I've been pruning and hunting out the forgotten one's!! 30 + so far...Still want more!!
