How do people manage to get around filters we’ve just had a message from a couple that has no public photos and that’s one of the things we have blocked ?

Yes.

I used that filter for awhile, and its only real use is "does this person respect my boundaries?"

If I read a message from someone with no public pictures, I'd block them. Because they saw me saying no, and found a way to get around it.

Someone who doesn't respect my no is not someone I want anything to do with.

I have that filer on too and it annoys me that people can and do cheat it.

Same with age, changing it to get round the filter, shows they wouldn't be respectful of what I'm looking for, so delete.

I'm pretty sure it's public pictures only - it's been years since I've looked at it though.

tbh they did have a friends only picture but the filter does say only public photos on display

You could be right, I've just had messages from profiles with friend only pics. Maybe they just made one public.
