Personally I would class myself as middle glass ! Typically I live in a 3 bedroom detached house in a affluent area ! Although I was brought up in a council house in Belfast in the 70's/80's, this is just due to typical stereotyping if I'm honest I would like to think I'm working class ! Although other people would judge material things ! Which in my eyes mean nothing as I have worked my backside off for everything I have .

I am curious whether having a label of being working clas or not is something to aspire to? I mean why would it be important? Genuine question not trying to cause conflict here xx

I work really hard a lot of the time and yet I would not think of myself as working class - perhaps because I dont work at a "practical" level?

I don't see myself as any class...my parents were very wealthy with what they did for a living.... had a big house in the country and at one point deemed millionaires.. They drove a battered car and always told us we had to work for our money.. We never had a lavished life and that has stuck with me..

Don't mistake the ability to buy material goods for a sign of class. Class is more to do with upbringing and background and family than money.

Class isn't measured by money. A cleaner winning several million on the lottery would not suddenly move from working class to upper class.

Class has nothing to do with what you own, but how you think, behave and respond...

There are rich scum and there are classy people who don't have a lot....

I do not calculate class by wealth, belongings or education, I asses people by their personality.

Im a down to earth person who is very polite, intelligent, with a Diploma and Managerial background and mostly a lady (when needed).

However I'd be classed in the whole class system as lower class as I'm at the moment a "single" Mother.

I used to have a very well paid job, my own home, car etc. However we sold and the ex bought a new house in his name only, then we split he kept it all and I was homeless. I'm now in a council house(a lovely one), and no means to get back to work until next year.

Class means NOTHING in this day and age. Its all about the person you are. I am no different as I was when I had everything, in fact I'm probably a nicer person, much more humble.

So in answer to the question, the only class I ever need to be is "Classy".

I honestly don't give a fuck what class i'm 'classed' as! I'm me! End off!

We could all prattle on about our 'material goods', but that ain't classy!

I think people are equating class with money.

My parents were working class immigrants and we moved from living in one room to a council house til they bought their first house in 1978.

My sisters and I are all university educated, all have property portfolios, white collar jobs and live pretty well thank you, but no matter how plummy my accent, how many Pimm's I sip on the lawn after my gardener has finished I will always be working class.

I agree totally, for some reason some people seem to think that because they live in a detached house they are 'middle class'

Does this make a new age traveller living in a 'detached' converted old ambulance in the woods middle class?

Not really bothered about which class I should label myself as, which class people label me as, which class people say I should be..... I`m me, I quite like being me and who I am... thats all that matters. As the current flavour of the year tattoo which a lot of people seem to have. a la LA gangster says.. Only God can judge

I come from a gang run council estate that the council couldn't have give 2 shits about. I've grafted my arse off since I was 16 to provide for myself, family and son.

I couldn't really give a feck what people want to class me as.

Just because some are not as fortunate as others or as clever as some doesn't make them any less.

"I do not calculate class by wealth, belongings or education, I asses people by their personality."

Very well put and I totally agree.

I like to adopt this philosophy when in clubs (and as much as possible in life), as when I am sat naked in the sauna, jacuzzi or round the bar my conversations are about personality.

Naked is a good 'leveller' and I've only see it once or twice where someone was oh... I have just had this bought for me and that and it only cost x amount.

Not interested, you are only trying to impress me with money and status and to me it is a big turn off.

I like my club visits to be 'free' of all this and more about having like minded individuals that you can talk to and enjoy their company in a relaxed environment.
