My youngest daughter had one put in about 18 months ago. She had terrible trouble for about a year - not only with bleeding but with terrible mood swings and it affected her appetite along with it too. She was a size 8 when it was put in and is now a size 18 and struggling to lose weight.

She's planning to have it removed.

Ive got the depo had it for a few years now and no problems at all. My daughter had the same but she opted for the implant, no issues that I know of for her, not sure about periods or not. I havent asked her. Shes not skinny but hasnt gained weight either. I hope your daughter gets sorted out

My moods are 'normal' for me it's just to periods, I have issues with my moods so don't really want to pump to much into my system hence why I went with the implant.

Want to cry, especially since I've met one gorgeous guy on here x

Yeah, I'm on cerezette with it too- I won't be going on the implant after this, I've had too many problems with it.

I've found that the implant made my moods even worse.

took about 8 months for my periods to finally not be as heavy but they're back on track time wise every month. I have the copper one so no extra hormones b/c I am moody enough without them! I don't like the fact that my periods are longer and heavier but it beats anything else I've tried.

Hope yours settles down soon!

I'm confused now! I went to clinic to get the depo which I've had in the past, but because of a family history of osteoporosis it was suggested I go on the mini pill (cerazette) instead. So I did and been on it a month. She also said that if it agreed with me I should get the implant as it contains the same stuff as the cerazette! So these reports of people being given cerazette to stop bleeding due to the implant don't follow, I will have to do more research :-/

"Not saying I doubt what you lot are saying btw"

that's what I've had to do... It just tops up the hormones I think... I bleed as often as 3 times a month if I wasn't taking the pill too.

Oh bloody hell (literally) what is the point of the implant then I might as well just stick with the pill I've had spotting but that is all thus far

Yes they are the same hormone, just the implant is a smaller dose, I was fine on the pill version so looks like the implant just doesn't 'top me up' enough.

Think I'm just going to have to see my doc

Mrs had the implant put in just after we both met. Mood swings wasn't the word for!!! Could have started a fight in an empty house... Could also have killed everyone anyone. Needless to say, paid a visit to the doctors and had it removed. Due to family history the pill wasn't an option and thats why the implant was put in x
