Is £16:24 for a pint of San Miguel and a medium pinot Grigio steep? We weren’t anywhere posh just a local pub. It might me ask if that was right put it that way

Wowsers, that's expensive even for a London gal like me. I'd expect a whole bottle of wine to cost that

Drinks are sky rocketing. £7.50 for a pint is becoming normal so it's Weitherspoons all the way now. Luckily I enjoy the guest ales £2.50

Probably because you were drinking in some Tits out snug and let the bar tender have a quick feel!

I suppose we are losing our pubs because we don't have the same drinking culture we had in the past so the pubs have to increase their prices to be able to make up for the reduced patronage.

In these places you're paying for the drinking and dining out experience not for the cost of the food and drink

We went a pub just down the road and had another drink and it was £7:79 for the 2. Safe to say we know where to go in the future

It's more than that. It's the breweries taking control and profiting from the pub chains that can buy and sell in mass bulk, and sell cheaper than the cosy local freehouse. They have to pay more because they're buying less so have to charge more. Hence, they struggle to compete on price, and lose trade to the chains. Don't think it's a culture change. Simply that people look after their purse.

At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask when he was robbing someone.... Jesus, the social side of life,of simply going down to the local watering hole to be with friends and chew the fat over some character enhancing beverages has all but been destroyed due to cost 😥. I'm not particularly a drinker, however I enjoyed a pint of Guinness and a chin wag about the week or the impending weekend. Now you don't get to see many familiar faces for a long time, sad really 😥. I don't even blame the small local landlord, who tries hard to keep it going but to no avail 😥

It’s not just steep it’s vertical for a pub, what was the split between the 2 drinks

The bottle was £21. A medium wine is 175ml so 4 medium wines to the bottle. It was much more expensive per ml by the glass than per bottle.

Was it perhaps a large glass 250ml not medium ?

You see I always keep saying ah that's inflation and taking it on the chin. However we travel a lot an occasionally we walk into a pub and are amazed how cheap a pint is. Like £3.50 and under. Like the place is stuck in a time warp (to be fair the decore normally is). We often frequent a pub near one on the clubs we go to and there the ale is good but surprising cheap.

Mr
