Clearing out my closet...

In the words of Eminem, I've been having a tidy up.

Hotlist has been emptied.

Profile tweaked a bit.

Sent box emptied.

Is it too extreme to just block people I have messaged and they haven't replied?

I know no reply is a reply in itself and I see it as a no thanks, but as a way of tracking those people I haven't made a good initial impression on, should I be that brutal?

Am I shooting myself in the foot as it might have been the timing was wrong, or do I just abandon the notion and block to save hassle later?

If they haven’t replied you don’t know what impression you’ve made. Life gets in the way, their attention is elsewhere, or on someone else. Block em all and you’ll never know.

Just delete your sends, maybe add a note on their profile of not responding.

female and many couple profiles that are open to single men are often swamped with messages. If they didn’t respond then it’s not personal, they just may not have seen or read your message as it was just one of hundreds that day. I wouldn’t block anyone that simply didn’t respond or deleted my message.

...

So I recently messaged someone I didn't know on the back of a photograph that I liked.

When I clicked on the profile, it turned out they had previously messaged me, but I couldn't see the actual message (just the notification that says messaged xx months ago)

Anyway I messaged, they replied and we met up.

If they'd blocked me because I didn't reply all those months ago, then we wouldn't have met you.

So sometimes you never know.

Why actively make your lake into a pond?

all fair comments, guess I need to log off for a bit, collect my thoughts and not make hasty decisions

Reading

There was a guy that messaged me once. It was a great message, personalised to me, he looked cute. But he sent it at a time when I was feeling so excited about other people. My plate was FULL of these other people so I saw the message and just did forgot to respond. Then I saw something from him, I can't remember if it was a picture, a forum comment, a status update but it was something and I messaged him and only after that did I realise it was the guy that had sent me the great message. We met up, we had a great time and if I weren't such a flake I'm sure we'd still be friends now.

This . A no reply unfortunately could just mean, didn't see or even meant to reply later but forgot. Id only block rude people not those who ignore

Yes. Some people do a blanket 'delete all' in order to clear out their ever-increasing inboxes, giving the impression you're being summarily dismissed.

There have been one or two occasions where I've (unintentionally) deleted messages only to bump into them at a social...and found them quite charming.
