Just some opinions of what cobfidence and arrogance might be, but do you agree?

Personally I get turned off pretty sharply by arrogance whether at work or personal life. Observing others though, I can sometimes see that many are attracted to what I might percieve as arrogance but they obviously see as strong confidence. Is there a fine line that can be easily crossed? Is the distinguishing

difference the lack of 'humility' alone or much more than that? Where do you stand on this? And by that I mean what's your opinion, not an absolute definition that everyone has to agree with. In this thread we play nice, thanks.

It's also easier on here to act confident but to be quite shy in real life. I certainly feel like in group situations I'm way more nervous and shy than people think. But I also think that people I assume to be confident aren't always. I try to assume everyone is a little shy.

But some people are right on the line of confidence and arrogance. It's a thin line.

It's a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Either can be perceived as such by different people.

In some way that can work. Can disarm those that might take advantage whilst at the same time giving you the opportunity to develop further confidence. It all of course depends on what the faking involves.

I was once picked up in a bar because, apparently, I walked in like I owned the place

If that's what they got, I must project pretty well because I am up there with the best when it comes to socially awkward

Anyway, I would say I am confident with things I know and with people I know

My job requires confidence and an ability to reassure and be both concise and realistic in response

I'd say I hold a tinge of arrogance, but it's both recognised and in check

I don't do well with those with a superiority complex

I don't always see arrogance, as I really dislike it and largely avoid people who have it. It's never pleasant to see. But it's refreshing to see confidence that's not due to arrogance.

The Tate brothers are repugnant and I'd be unlikely to be comfortable around anyone who likes them, due to their arrogance and abusive nature.

I think the real difference is whether people can support being confident or arrogant with their actual abilities or attributes. Many arrogant people can be very attractive (to some) if they have the talents to match. Some people are simply much better at some things than others.

Equally being confident but humble looks fake if you don't actually have good reason to be confident.

Coming out gave me a big confidence boost. I can show the world who I really am and I *like* who I am now.

But I'm also a pragmatist. I'm more than I ever thought I could be and less than most. I need to be a positive voice in the world, so I lift up, I help and I encourage so more people can be better than me. It'll be my turn eventually but not today.

I have seen many confident people, especially at work, but the only one I admire is those that harmoneously couole their confidence with humility. They create the right culture that others can respect their knowledge, skills and direction but also enjoy the space and support given to develop their own confidence and skills to the best of their ability.

I try to be chatier (is that a word) and try to show that I have belief in myself even though I might be quacking inside. I would hope I doesn't come off as arrogance, I really dislike arrogant people.

I personally like to think that confidence is something that quietly exudes from an individual, they make no effort to be confident in themselves or what they do because it comes naturally out of them. And to add, they’re humble about their achievements and don’t brag about it.

Arrogance to me comes across as confidence being forced without the humility or self-reflection about one’s self or one’s abilities. See this quite often at the gym when someone is trying to lift way more than they’re capable of.

Not easy if it does not come natural but little things to increass it can helop. That includes being around ghe right people that understand

Sometimes in life in self-acceptance means that being authentic places us in conflict with others. It's not desirable, but I am not conflict averse nor do I humbly submit, when it doesn't feel authentic to do so.

Passive-aggression seems to pass as politeness and respect with a lot of people. I can't be bothered with all of that drama.

I am fair and you get out what you put in with me, I can say that with confidence 😉.

I think someone like Andrew Tate is arrogant and someone like Victoria Coren Mitchell is confident.

That's the way to be. I have always been very confident at work but hope nobody will ever say arrogant. In personal life not always as confident as perhaps I would want and cettainly not arrogant. Despite appearences, I can be very froendly but holding a bit back until I get to know you and trust you.

Those who project as Alpha types, are often quite insecure.

Arrogance is such a turn off in meets. It is easy to spot the truly confident (and by extension very competent) at clubs and group meets.
