I know they're a pain but, let's face it, it must be a pretty shit job and i certainly wouldn't want to do it. So i find myself unwilling to be anything other than courteous to a fault, even when they're desperately trying to cling on to a conversation.

What about you lot?

When I did used to get them I just hung up. Just because someone doesn’t like their job doesn’t mean I need to engage in chit chat. I wouldn’t engage to be rude, that’s wasted effort just be be a dick and I don’t understand that

"...being courteous to a fault" is synonymous to the same process that most men undertake when messaging women on here: ultimately the women will disregard the courteous men because it's an insurmountable endeavour.

To answer your question — I too was courteous many years ago to these telemarketing folk, now I disregard, ignore or sanction them in my own contemptuous manner. Sorry OP.

Or putting it bluntly: fuck 'em.
