Citroen grand Picasso

Finally after much effort and work on my part.. I've won my battle with disability living allowance on behalf of my daughter.. I now have the mobility component back.

Now as much as many other sporty and nice small cars took my fancy... Sensible head had to be engaged and after spending my afternoon trying out numerous people carriers... Mum's cars.. grr.. I decided that for cost and equipment. The Picasso came tops...

so now I want to hear from anyone living with one... I know for me as a real car fan it's going to be dull and underpowered... so that aside.. what's your experience.

I have also this morning been and brought a 146 Alfa while I wait.. and that won't be going expect for a spider... So my nice car fix will be sorted.

Well done for buying the Alfa you are now 1000% sexier...lol

As for the Picasso. Is it a diesel? If it is then expect issues with the EGR valve and DPF, especially if you're not doing long motorway runs were they get a good clear out and regen.

The EGR valve is easy to clean out yourself but the DPF will require a dealer to sort if it plays up.

So, am I gonna bump into you at some alfaowner meets in the near future?

It you have the 2L turbo diesel it shouldn't feel too slow as I have that in my citroen (but the older edition) and for a largish car it holds itself when the boy racers think they can overtake me. Should give you excellent mpg, great ride comfort and if you can remove the rear seats you have a van!

Also usually piss cheap to tax and insure in comparison to many other vehicles

Living with a picasso is easy. Its a lot comfier than a zafira, can't live without the parking sensors. The only criticsm is that the seat mechanism jammed and internally bits have fallen off e.g the handles that you pull the extra seats up with. The diesal is 34 mpg quite nippy acceleration is like a tank when compared with an alpha. There is a lot of space in the back though, which can be useful. ;*) ..Good luck with it.

Steve

It's the 1.6 and as it's a motability car anything that goes wrong they fix and I get a car...

I found my last car drove well for a mpv but had the 140bhp petrol. Never had a diesel lol.

And as for Alfa meets.. yup... I will be along.

Not had the Picasso, I did test drive one, but I fell in love with the Berlingo in the show room, so ordered that at the last min & loved it!

Congrats on your win, I'm preparing for a tribunal, but it can take up to 12 months for a date, but glad I'm being sent for a medical in a couple of weeks by the lovely Atos

But happy I get to see someone in person instead of faffing about with forms & phone calls.

I dont drive but we have got a picasso, not a new one, its a bit old now I think. no sensors or fancy stuff, but he fell in love with it and I like it too. Big windscreen felt strange for a while, but didnt take long to get used to it and loads of room for stuff. Pleased you got your motability back too

had two...never a days failure between them.. and if the worst happens you are in a nice car looking good at the side of the road.

The new one which I think I will call Marco is a stop gap between me and my v6 spider.. no car audio required in that.. just listen to the engine. Mmm

. I don't listen to my audio in my M5 for the same reason the Cosworth doesn't sound too bad either.

We had a 1.6 Picasso Petrol and it was the first car I bought and therefore my baby...however...she drank petrol like Bod does Vodka on a cozy night in and the windscreen supports (idk what they are called) caused big blind spots on both the driver and the passenger side. Loads of room though...individual seats with three point harnesses in the back were a big selling point for space!! I loved the high gearstick...Bod hated it...I'm little and liked being high up!

I don't know what your child's needs are but we now have a Galaxy ...the space is amazing seats come in and out...we both love it. Its a proper mumbus though

We've had our motability grand picasso since November, after a succession of scenics and a grand scenic. It's a diesel, and the only thing it loses out to on the grand scenic is the lack of satnav. A minor point, and one the picasso makes up for every other way.

people say that about most cars.. I've always had cover. Only used it for my Toyota and vw... Both renowned for reliability..

The engine will be fine, but the electrics on french cars are well know not to be the best, which is why i never buy french cars.

Im on my 7th citroen/peugeot in almost 20 years- with one exception (which turned out to be from a dodgy dealer) i've had little issue with any of them- i'd estimate i've spent about £1k in total on repairs and servicing in that time. Just done the MOT and it cost me £5 for 2 bulbs on a car thats done almost 120k

you don't need audio if you have a cosworth, that engine is enough entertainment.

I've had a xsara picasso for years and it's a workhorse, done 60k+ in it and it's had 2 clutches and the only reason fire that is the first time i bought a cheap ebay clutch. And 2 bottom pulleys and that's it, no other problems, passes the mot everytime. God my 1 series has given me more trouble in the tar I've owned it
