Despite my best intentions I find myself back here... The question I have I've noticed there's not a lot of people with faces showing, but they seem to do ok anyway. Is having my mug on here not a good idea?

I don't even look at profiles until we've been messaging for a bit and I haven't made any stipulation on my bio to whether I want to see any part of them at all.

On the other hand, I have nothing to hide but there's parts of me I'm only comfortable showing off in person.

Looks don't matter as much as a connection. I'll meet someone completely sight unseen if they've been chatty and friendly and flirty and we've built a good connection.

It's kinda silly when you think about it because if someone you know sees you, it's only because they are on here themselves!

I personally wouldn't show my face in public pics, too many creeps here, who would think nothing of approaching women in public, if they saw and recognised them.

It's up to you if you want to show yours and are happy that people may recognise you etc.

I don't think it's a good idea. I'm not speaking about privacy, more about the loss of intrigue, mystique and the detriment for establishing initial contact. Others will opine differently but showing your face, as admirable as it is, will close any doors to opportunities to engage with people long before you even get a chance to open them.

I don't share photos from the onset. Of course how I look is very important to the other person and attraction plays a part. Instead I focus on the written introduction and getting to know someone first, establishing and nurturing chemistry, channeling the flirtatious 'frisson', protracted deep-rooted conversations and relishing in that mental synergy. Putting your photo on your profile will just create subconscious bias to any form of nascent conversation. Fab is many things, good and not-so-good, but it's not a place for the swipe left/swipe right culture where aesthetics are the only quality before anything else.

The above is NOT some kind of gospel; it's just •my• personal experience and approach...and it works for me, perfectly. I wouldn't change it for the all the tea in China. 🩶
