Having learned in the army - where it was called 'pressing' - I have never allowed girlfriends, partners or anyone else to iron my stuff.

Likewise, shoe polishing, button sewing etc.

I don't iron anything. I consider it a waste of my time much better things to do than stand ironing for hours. Ironing pants- wtf is that all about?

I don't buy clothes that require ironing and on the rare occasion I do have something that creases, I have a kindly neighbour who let's me pop round and iron that item plus I get a brew&a natter

a village near Haywards Heath in East Sussex

I saw a singer/stand up comic in a cabaret show abroad and during the show he turned around to pick something up and there was a hole in the back of his shirt the shape of an iron. He didn't refer to it and you didn't see it again in the act. Perfectly timed gag and if you weren't observant you would never have noticed
