Or is it just gay for any gender now? (I know people also use queer). I heard the word lesbian the other day and it felt like an outdated word because I haven’t heard it in so long.

I assume posh women would prefer the term lady gay.

I am even older than you and often wondered where the “friends of Dorothy” expression came from? At school we used to say I wouldn't like to put my finger in that “Dyke” is that word still used in these enlightened times?

Carlisle usually

I still hear lesbians referred to as lesbians. There is of course a wealth of other terms that are also available 💜

I don't imagine that "dyke" would have wanted your finger in her anyway

Judy Garland is a gay icon hence "friends of Dorothy" hopes this answers it for you

It's the the L in LGBTQ...+ So I'm guessing it's still relevant; maybe because some of these terms are seen as being interchangable and, some are used more than others as a kind of 'catch-all' term. As these categories are listed separately in the LGBTQ...+ Abbreviation,it makes sense to me that they are all relevant and are different.

Talking of ‘catch all’, doesn’t the T stand for trans? If so, that isn’t a sexual preference. Smacks of “let’s lump all the folk different from us into one big group so they can all have a day and talk to each other about cushions.”

My best mate's a dyke.

She don't care what you call her if you let her lick your fanny!

These days are getting less enlightened by the month and there are a vocal number of LGB that want to get rid of the T exactly because it's not a sexual preference.

Trans activists were prominent at the stonewall riots. We earned our place.

Absolutely. There's not LGB without the T for me. Trans activists helped pave the way for all of us.

In fact, while I think about it, isn’t the word preference a bit of a misnomer?

I've heard several young women use the word lesbian when referring to themselves.

I think lady may the more outdated term.

Wish Fab would put Lesbian as a label rather than just Gay. Or create a site just for women especially since they have one just for gay men.

If there was a site for women, it would be full of men

Stronger together hunni. It's seems fashionable to come after trans people. If they get away with it they'll come after other gay groups x
