Why go to the gym if you want to shed waight. You can't burn what you eat.

To me the Gym is for fitness and or definition.

Eating and nutrition is about Waight and fat.

I negative calorie diet with calisthenics workout would be the best way to shed weight, changing from a carbon heavy diet to a protein rich diet. Keeps you fuller for longer.

For those saying i do not need to go to the gym.

The reasons I go gym

(1) i use to be a gym rat and it helped with my MH.

(2) to lose the weight.

(3) Sociable.

(4) I was in a car collision and few months ago so for rehabilitation.

I hear you, I too go for my mental health and my mind boggles when people say you don’t need to go to the gym to lose weight, you can absolutely lose weight at the gym.

Keep at it and build up a routine, you’ll smash it for sure

Never been in a gym in my life, but the summer road bike is coming out tomorrow. I've been on the heavy singlespeed all winter commute so will be aiming for a hilly 40+miles to ease myself in.

Good on you OP for getting back to the gym and sure you'll reap the benefits.

I haven't been to my fitness classes for a few weeks and now won't have time to go for a few months due to heavy work commitments.

On the plus side I may tone up a little whilst physically working then I'm hoping to get back into cycling in the summer months.

34 hilly miles & 3000ft of ascent after 6 months off the bike probably wasn't a good idea!

Lost half a Watt of power but I'm still above 3W/Kg so not too bad I suppose.

Stones...Oh I see you want to die. Lol!

I went outside and did my glute bridges, squats, stretches, fire hydrants in the sunshine.

Gym is likely to finish me off at the moment.

Also abs are made in the kitchen.. not that I ever had abs.

What is the injury? I'm assuming it's an injury that you are seeing the osteopath for?

Step down to resistance bands or step down to body weight.

I have terrible fatigue so I'm on body weight and resistance bands. Yoga, simple calisthetics and pilates.

I have one injury but the rest of issues are muscle knots, muscle weakness and muscle overwork ( I used to work in a supermarket currently on sick leave)

(2) to lose the weight.

(3) Sociable.

(4) I was in a car collision and few months ago so for rehabilitation.

"

Hugs we are all different.

I do not rely on the gym because

(1) the pandemic taught me not to

(2) I go to the gym anxious and leave the gym anxious

(3) my gym is not sociable at all.

(4) I get hit by severe bouts of fatigue and depression that make actually getting to the gym a herculean feat.

(5) I have an outdoor personal trainer twice a month, I walk in my local parks and commons and riverside, I cycle and I swim. All of which reduce my anxiety more than the gym ever does.

(6) I lose weight faster if I count my calories and I was on a drug that made it hard to lose weight regardless of exercise.

I just tell people to stay active and eat in moderation unless their GP tells them to do more. So far my GP is not chasing me with Ozempic or weight loss shakes. I used to be underweight and that wasn't great either. I don't have an eating disorder but I have disordered eating.

It's better for me to keep a balance. If I over-exercise, I crash hard with the fatigue the next 2 days. not great.

If you have no ill effects from the gym, no need to stop going if you like it.

It's a lifestyle for me and I am forced to put my health first...if I don't I get mentally and physically sick....current situation...Oh the gym is my least favourite way to stay active..along with running.....lol!

I do not have a runners body. I have flat feet and wide hips...I have a dead lift/swimmers body. Lol!

Hi Welcome to your 40s where you do nothing and a body part decides to stop working...or torture you.

My left leg from glutes, hip to knee to instep says hello to your shoulder.

my friend with benefits had a right lower back spasm this week.

I have a special affliction. It's called to stressed to eat or too anxious to eat or too fatigued to eat.

It either turns off the hunger signal to my brain or makes me ignore/forget it.

A great way to end up with malnutrition and osteoporosis as a woman.

I was a chubby baby and then a thin toddler and stayed thin until I went on fat-inducing medication at age 33.

Men are less likely to have this problem as they carry more muscle and are not leaking nutrients every month for approximately 40 years. Lol!

lol yes indeed years of built up issues to resolve…things that had been ignored combined with health issues.

Yoga mats out, resistance bands and ballet barre is up and ready to go!

Couple of month sand hopefully I’ll be back to it. Rebuilding the foundations!
