Having been raised by a heavy smoker (but never personally took up the habit), I'm curious as to what makes a person initially start; do you have regrets?

Started smoking rollups 30n years ago as social thing in my heavy pub & blubbing days. It just kinda stuck. Started vaping a few years ago because my gf hated me smoking.

I'll have to stop altogether or go zero nicotine when I start HRT in a few years time.

The habit for me is having something to put in my mouth I think.
