I intened to sit in my garden this afternoon. But the sun went in. So being a good girl. I gave my garden a little over due attention.

We have only had a garden for the last 3/4 years and I wouldn't be without it now.

Love spending time pottering about, growing herbs & vegetables and keeping it tidy.

I have a dilemma actually with my garden.

Living in rented until January until I can get back into my own house. The garden is ok..patio, grass etc but no plants or tubs..

I have been today and bought some tubs with plants I can take with me, new garden furniture and hanging baskets. Spent a small fortune

despite knowing that when I move back to my own home, the garden is beautiful..

I just can't sit in a mess...

I've spent a small fortune landscaping my garden, it's on three levels. The shed is full of every tool and gadget, I've a garden hoover still in its box under the kitchen table. Every year my gardener gives it a clear out, you could enter it at Chelsea, cuts backs the ivy and vines, stains the decking and fencing.

I went out there last August to show it to my sister when she came over from Italy...I've not set foot out there since, but the gardener comes on Tuesday to waste his time to do a garden I won't use till he comes to clear it again next year.

Irony is, one of the deciding factors in buying the house was the garden!

Sort of a mixed bag, average lawn, awesome decking (well, i did design and build it myself) and a wasteland to the side, awaiting time for me to build a patio

I'm having it landscaped at the moment. I love gardening but can't do the hard physical labouring.

Fingers crossed it'll be done by the end of next week so I can get in and planting!

I dont have a garden just a back yard but its enough for me. If i want a huge garden i go to Jays, hes got 2 acres an orchard and paddock and a waterfall in his its lovely, like a park

In all seriousness... our garden is a disgrace and neither of us have a clue... the deck looks awful, the shed is falling down, the grass is dead from the kids big pool on it every year and the jasmine has taken over.

Where is Alan Titchmarsh when you need him eh?

Ours is shocking at the moment and needs a good tidy. Not a huge amount, just a lawn mow, treatment and the hedges need pruning/trimming.

Those that pay for a gardener, what's a good price so I know we're not being ripped off when I start enquiring?

Becky has a little man in to take care of her garden every week. He trims her bush, tinkers in the borders and has been known to train her labellia. He seems to keep her happy.

Go to your nearest Age UK centre and put a card up on the notice board.... some elderly gent will likely love having something to do for a bit of extra cash and you gain a spare Grandpa in the deal.

That is a Brilliant idea...I got my 'man' from a card in local shop..he only does my little bit of grass and charges £10 but it is worth it...
