No not anymore.

Every couple of days have a conversation, messages or phone call. Make some plans, have a laugh. That's good enough.

It really depends. What else have I got going on? Is parenting more intense right now? Do i have a lot of pressure at work? Am I oversaturated by too many people messaging me all the time?

In general though, if a new person then every day is probably a bit much for me UNLESS they a) have something really interesting to say or b) it's a continuation of the same conversation.

If you mean daily "hey hun how ru" messages then for gods sake, no, no, no, no.

Not really. I want some obvious excitement on the lead up to meeting them and I don't like silence straight after but other than that it's fine.

Partners yes, and a certain friend group on most days as life is lifeing hard for them right now. Other people I could be every few days or even once a week in short bursts and would still feel that connection.

Depends on the person, our relationship and what we have both got going on. Some people it feels entirely natural to talk casually every day. Other people it is natural to talk sporadically.

Not necessarily the need to message every day, nor receive a reply. When I see a message from someone I’m talking to, if I have the time I’ll reply to it..

The thought of talking to my mum everyday makes me want to play on the train tracks. I do love her very much she’s just such a yapper. And she texts like such a boomer.

I try and ration out the chat if it will be a week or 2 before meeting. You don't want it to fizzle out half way. Conversely, you don't want to seem uninterested. It's a fine balance and different for everybody. I have chats where we can easily pick up again after nothing for weeks, and I've had chats where I've been accused of ghosting because I was busy at work and couldn't reply for a few hours

You see the 'mum is typing' and then you go off pop to the loo, make a cuppa a sandwich and when you return it still says 'mum is typing' lol

For potential partners and FWBs, if I'm in the 'I like you and I want to get to know you' then yes, I'm into it. Then it moves into something more familiar and less regular.

I don't message my friends or family every day though; priorities

"I have some friends that I send about 100 memes/reels a day to on Instagram 😅 "

I have a couple of mates who will message me "saw this and thought of you" and attached will be the maddest unhinged nightmare-fuel of a meme.

Not sure what to make of it but it's nice they're thinking of me.

I do like it. I don't see or chat to my (non fab) friends nearly as much as I'd like. There's only 1 of my close friends that will message me throughout the day, everyday. I enjoy that she likes to share the little and big things with me 🫶

A fwb? I'm loving the everyday chats, even just sharing silly things we know eachother would enjoy etc.

And others? I give what I get because I understand that some people just aren't as waffley as me and don't wanna seem too much 😅

I no longer enjoy online chatting as it always ends up with me friend zoning people. I am bored of the same cyclical messaging effort and ultimate result. So I have stepped back from online chatting, and I feel better for it.

If and when we feel that someone is suitable for us to meet I prefer to suggest an in person social or to meet up at an organised social event.

So in answer to the OP, back and forth constant or even fairly regular messaging really doesn't suit me.

It varies with each person and depends on the relationship, but generally, I’m not someone who messages every day. That said, every so often, someone comes into my life where daily conversation just feels natural and effortless.

I don't mind, whatever suits the other person.

There's no-one who messages me every day, bar the people I have to communicate with for work, Mon-Fri.

There's no family members who check in with me daily. My Dad still attempts email with the support of nurses. Mr KC WhatsApps me most mornings with exciting information about what he's put in the car (but not all) and my brother sends requests for financial bail outs fortnightly at least. My son contacts me either when he's sad, run out of money or possibly might want to see me about something.

No-one WANTS to talk to me everyday anyway

I'm quite good at giving nothing and then an overload of waffle, well versed in it.

I like the excitement, NRE sometimes of the early stages of messaging. I like the easy, comfortable familiarity of later, but that flirting flurry and the little hints of desire and all the questions? That's a very fun time.

I'd rather someone messaged me once a week if daily was mundane. Situational isn't it?

My friends and I can go months without talking or all day every day. I live that we are flexible like that. Like life happens but we still have each other's backs.

There are a couple of lovely people on here with whom I talk with regularly, but not everyday.

I'm lucky enough to have found three people on here that I can, and have, messaged all day everyday for periods of time without losing interest.

So I guess it depends on the person and your level of friendship

everyday too intense. Although sometime a few days in a row is nice. But got to be able to come back to it later. Rest of life gets in the way too often to keep that sort of intensity.

I am very intense. But I cater my messages to the same energy as who I'm messaging. If the other person engages with it then full steam ahead. If not, I tailor it more to that person.
