Tell me what someone could put in an opening message that immediately grabs your attention

Mayfair

It's not the exact words that get my attention but the clean and articulate way they have introduced themselves, perhaps paying a compliment - which is often the case in my experience (women tend to be quite adept at this) - or perhaps referencing something from my profile which piques their interest or leaves them further mystified.

Using my name is a nice touch, as in "Hi Doe" instead of just launching into porn or a generic message they've copied and pasted to most of Fab

'Hello' will do it. We really don't expect or want anything more. What follows after is more important and we have found that some opening messages while interesting and eye catching are not indicative of what's to come.

When they've clearly read my profile and tailor the message, use correct spelling and grammar, humorous and flirtatious, talk to me like a human being and not a piece of meat.

We much prefer someone to be as if they’ve just met you in a pub and how you’d talk to someone then!

Anything graphic or hi or text speak wouldn’t be welcomed.

If your profile is appealing and it got our interest then we’d be replying.

Nothing.

A decent profile will do that. The message content is by and large secondary.

Worthing

More than a single word like "hello" or "hi" or an emoji of a waving hand.

Getting my name right is a good start. I had

‘Hi GymSchoolDropout’ ……. recently

The length of it. If anyone has made the effort to write a couple of paragraphs, or more… well that’s rare.
