Do you think we live in a free country? If not would you want to live in a free country?

Considering we're currently sat on a forum on a swinging site with photos of ourselves in the buff (for the most part) discussing the extent of democracy in our society and culture

I'd say, yes, yes we do

What's a free country?

Does one exist ?

Is it freedom to say and do as you see fit, with no restrictions ?

Let anarchy and chaos reign

no. We are slaves to the system. Programmed from day of birth to be conditioned. Made to feel we want the wife house car and 2.4 children. Forces to go to school for further indoctrination in order to work for a pittance to obtain said desires. Work for your whole life to pay the government for the privilege.

You can't say or do anything deemed different for fear of prosecution.

Way I see it im a human from planet earth. If I wanted to chop down some trees build myself a shelter. A fire fir warmth. Breed animals and eat them. Grow herbs and run about naked I can

Oh wait...cant chop trees as its trespassing on private property and harming the environment. Can't build fire as air pollution. Can't run around naked as deemed offensive.

So no we are far from free

In order to do that I would need to work to buy a plot if land. Get planning permission and permission to chop trees to build shed. Then id need apply for livestock license to get animal fat to make a candle. Naked I can do but only once id built my shed so I wasn't annoying anyone

You are free to do all that, but the land to do it on is not so free so you will need to have money to buy land, or find some nobody else wants, which is getting harder on this planet, but still not impossible.

I feel very free in this country. I do what I want when I want. I say what I want when I want.

I'm not bonkers so I'm not likely to draw attention to myself whilst carrying out the above.

The face we have a vote and an opinion is a direct argument with this....the politicians are elected my a majority vote that we the public make then we whinge because we don't like what they decided. If we don't vote for them they don't get to make decisions...

Look at some of the middle eastern countries and then say we live in a dictatorship.

I burn wood shavings and sawdust in my back garden almost every day, never had a problem. the rules you mention are all down to proximity of other people. If we are to live together then some standards that allow that without violence and bloodshed are required.

Get out of the city go find a spot in a large piece of open land and get naked, light fires. Hunt & forage for your food. even in the UK it can be done, but if you want the company and luxuries of the rest of society then you have to contribute and follow the rules.

p.s. if being naked is really your goal then possibly somewhere more temperate in the winter is a good plan

How presumptuous. I am not tagged. I meant we are nit simply able to travel to an island or anywhere else. First U must be vetted and them pay for a passport. Freedom would be coming and going as you please. My argument is infallable. Not one thing you can di without first needing cash or a license or an offical document.

If I were to do as I pleased I would be in prison by end of the day, that's hardly freedom.

Pack in your job, go live somewhere on an island (there are dozens littered all round the uk) and be self sufficient. Nobody says that is against the law...It is a choice...

I cannot do that tho as I am not free to travel without first asking permission. Nit free to build a home as its on someones land and nit free to eat as someone owns the livestock or the berries are 'protected'

One day this so called civulisation will crumble and we may have freedom

So you want the freedom to build on land that someone else owns?.....eat livestock that someone else owns?

But ownership of land etc is a made up construct. Why can't I go on this land. Coz some raping pillaging twat decided it was his and hand over to his descendants. To live off the land each person required approximately 1 square kilometre give or take 4 people per square mile, obviously the land itself is relevant to that calculation.

The UK population density is 674 people per square mile, in England it's even higher at over 1000 people per square mile. in order to support that intensive farming is not sufficient therefore we need to create things to trade, and live in each others space.

To live without electricity, clean water, communication and company is quite a high price to pay but it is possible if you are fit enough and know enough about the natural world. Only a few want to do this, even less are able to do it. As long as not many want to do it, it is still possible, but even the wildlife in this country ends up coming into cities and scavenging as it's easier than living off the land.

You suggested in your post that we are in a free country, as we have the freedom to write on this forum on this website. I am saying we have limited freedom to do that ... China have slightly more limits I most admit. Though saying that the limits to what people can say and can not say on websites in the UK and USA are get greater.

What we write on web sites, forums etc are dictated by morals and laws not by being restricted and kept down. That doesn't mean we are not free, just that we live my a code of morality. I am sorry but given there are some total numpties out there who think they can behave as they please (see recent headlines) we need those codes to keep us safe from verbal and physical abuse.

Surely you are not attempting to argue that we should be able to write and say whatever we please regardless of how that may affect other people???

Is not freedom of speak apart of a free country?

China and North Korea think what they are doing is also for the best for their people. They use restrictions for the same reason as us.

If you start restricting what people can read and write then you are taking away a major freedom.

"Do you think we live in a free country? "

The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. That you are a slave. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.

Ah there it is in a nutshell. Morality has developed over thousands of years and we as humans have shaped that. That hasn't come about as one persons decision. Society has evolved what is acceptable and what is not. Not a dictatorship and not censorship.

if you hate this country you live in so much and its censorship of your morality as was mentioned earlier - opt out...Train north (no passport required) and go live on one of the remote islands off the coast of Scotland.

Then you can live as however you see fit...

I do like this country. But I wish people would not say it is a free country. It is not a free country. It is a country that has limits, laws and regulations.

By the way, the isles of Scotland are covered by the laws of the UK, you can not just go to one of them and do what you like. You can not go to any other them and just build a house etc. There are very few islands in the world that are not run under the laws of a sovereign country.

what is stopping you? If you are so desperate to opt out, then do it..yes you have to abide by the laws, they are there to protect everyone. So no, you cannot smelt copper in your back garden that is harming people

The land of the free? A supposedly democratic country where you boys for someone and get someone else. Where the promise one thing and do another. Anyone thinks they are free are deluded. You are looked upon as ahit if you don't strive for the material possesions and vilified as a weirdo if you do opt out.

One day this so called civulisation will crumble and we may have freedom

Please don't be so arrogant as to call people deluded just because they don't have the same outlook as you.

How long more do you have to wear your tag. I'm presuming you have one on because you need to ask permission before travelling.

Then that says more about your own morality..Last time I checked you didn't need a passport to go to Scotland..."

Fingers crossed we will have to soon....

"no.

So no we are far from free "

The interesting thing about the concept of anarchy is personal responsibility. Rather than letting society decide what is right, the anarchist makes his or her own decision.

"If you start restricting what people can read and write then you are taking away a major freedom. "

But you have the freedom to say what ever you like, can't necessarily say it in this forum. But you can say it on the net or in public in a large number of places. There is a restriction on inciting hate crime in the UK but there is no internet blocks stopping you from reaching out to any country where it's legal and posting things there!

The passport you are apparently against is not stopping you leaving the UK, I went abroad last Friday visited 4 separate countries and didn't get the passport out of my pocket until I was coming back to the UK on the Sunday.

Only thing that is stopping you is you!

The UK is a FREE and civilised country, in order to be civilised there have to be acceptable and unacceptable behaviour, if you feel that you can't live by the generally accepted standards then don't. Just go somewhere else!

"I do like this country. But I wish people would not say it is a free country. It is not a free country. It is a country that has limits, laws and regulations."

You're completely abusing the meaning of the term 'free' if you think having laws means we are not free.

If there were no laws we would be even less free, actually.

You can not post what you like on the Internet. The are many limits to what you can put on the internets. Look at the case brought against people that have written things on Facebook and Twitter.

If you think this country is Free then I am afraid you are simply wrong. If you think this is a Free country, walk into a police station and wee on the floor.

I am not saying that we should live in a free country, I am saying that we don't. We live by rules and laws, rules and laws that restrict are freedoms, but restrict them for good reason.

Hmm have to say I have never felt the urge to be free to piss on my own let alone other peoples floors.

You ask for the freedom to steal property, do you also grant that freedom to others? can I move into your shed once you have built it and lock you out?

" so you are free enough?

Frederick John Inman (28 June 1935 – 8 March 2007) was an English actor and singer best known for his role as Mr. Humphries in Are You Being Served?, a British sitcom in the 1970s and 1980s. Inman was also well known in the United Kingdom as a pantomime dame.

Born in 1935, Inman made his stage debut aged 13. He worked in retail in London as a young adult and after four years left to earn his Equity Card. He made his West End debut in the 1960s, and his television debut in an episode of A Slight Case of ... entitled The Enemy Within in 1965, next appearing in an episode of Two In Clover in 1970. After a successful pilot of Are You Being Served?, Inman played the camp Mr. Humphries in the sitcom from 1972 to 1985. This role made him a household name and won him awards, including BBC TV Personality of the Year. In his later years, John Inman became a well known pantomime dame. He died of hepatitis in 2007 aged 71.

So no - he's dead!
