At some point we all have to let go of things. Do you find it difficult? Do you usually wait until you’re ready?

I wait until I'm ready to let go unless it's taken away then I let go quite easily

It really depends on the situation.

Some people I've been able to cut off almost instantly.

Others it's been so hard to let go.

I don't ever really let go. I put less effort in to giving it attention but until it is taken away I never truly let go

Once I notice that holding on is damaging to me, I make the conscious choice to let go. It can take a while to get to that realisation, though.

I hold on too long. And people telling me I am makes no difference. Eventually I'll realise for myself

If holding on to something that isn’t mean’t for me, then letting go can be quite freeing and liberating.

I find it extremely difficult to let go and I'm a big softie so things upset me more than most. So it can be rather draining. However, when I do let go I don't look back, which is a blessing.

I really struggle to let go even when I know they’re doing more damage than good. Going through this right now

Do you mean things or people?

Just cleared out our garage, some of the stuff that went to the tip, good riddance but other stuff evoked happy memories.

Never really had to let go of people, some drift away over time due to work and family circumstances and some sadly die.

It depends sometimes i can let go easily other times it can fill my mind and then can be consuming being self critical.

Sometimes you just have to break free.

It depends on what it is and whether it is better for them than me - for example the kids are growing up and they need to live their own lives. If I hold on too tight then that would be the wrong thing to do for them even though I miss them.

Sometimes the pull can be insurmountable, the compelling effect that they (or something) have/has had on me, leaving me unprepared for some form of closure. Letting go isn't always straightforward for me...but it happens eventually through time and focussing on other things that take precedence. When that (finally) happens I rarely look back.

Really depends on the situation and person. If it’s someone I care deeply about then I tend to hold on longer than I should, hoping. If it is someone I am not overly that fussed about in the grand scheme of things I’m cut throat. In both scenarios once I’m done, I’m done. I will smile as I wave and skip off without ever looking back.

I've found occasionally in life acceptance means letting go of letting go.

Some people I’ve cut dead and never looked back others are not as easy

I can mostly do some personal resilience work with reasoning and finally let what ever it is go.

There is one page that I haven't been able to turn... I feel like the story is perhaps being rewritten for now

I can let people go no trouble at all. Adiós amigo.

Animals or personal belongings are a totally different matter

Letting go of the past - difficult

Letting go what people say - difficult

Letting go of acquaintances - easy especially if it becomes a one way street to keep in touch

People letting go of me - relatively easy for them

Very much dependent on the situation, what caused the separation of there was a resolution to why it happened.I've let go of people I've know for most my life without ever looking back and people who I've know maybe a few months or years I can find it hard.

I gradually stop thinking about them, until they become a greyed out memory and eventually disappear from my thoughts.

Except for my bags of books. I have to grab a few every now and then on bin night and put them out without thinking about them.

I had too many books.

When I lose a special person or animal I know I'm going to cry a lot for a while, when I think about them, or something reminds me of them.

They aren't supposed to be let go, but we have to make it easier to remember them without the hurting.

I let go very easily. People, possessions, situations, jobs, if they no longer fit my life then I walk away.

I don't want to spend my life clinging to my past when I can spend it in the present.

Ironically a big part of that comes from my childhood.

If it's someone or something that has gotten through or over my walls, I find it difficult to let go. And I hold on longer than is good for me.

There's been a lot of things I haven't been allowed, so letting go of things is just another one to add to the list.

I let go quite easily if I feel the other party isn't in it with me

I'm not wasting energy and emotion if I feel it pointless

Some people I find very difficult to let go. I still wake up in the early hrs ruminating on a rupture that happened 4yrs ago.

Others I can dismiss with a blink.

I'm a big believer in not looking behind yoy because you will fall over what is in front of you. So don't look to the pass as you'll miss what's in your future.

Letting go isn't easy, it's hard. The hardest thing I ever had to do was leave my ex wife. Although I still care about her, I realised that I could never be happy with her.

So I bit the bullet & moved on, I am now happy & feel I can do what makes me happy. But it wasn't easy.

The shell shock of disbelief and sadness are the worst stages for me to get through and process the loss.

But once I reach anger, Im ready to let go.
