MS announced Skype will be terminated in May, all existing users will be offered teams access. End of an era and great memories!

It was good to have something separate for here.

I use teams and all the other things for work.

I won't be doing video calls anymore, I don't want cross pollination of profiles.

Ah well.

Team wanks could be the next hot topic in the Introductions forum soon instead of Skype ones.

Although that does sound slightly dodgier than Skype wanks....🤔🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Think you can do video calls on telegram.

I said in another thread that I had to use it once for a committee meeting.

I didn't know it still existed so I won't miss it.

Remember if going to use Teams do not use a work account - as your company can and often does use teams to track your productivity along with keystrokes and even record all your meetings. Personal teams will be ok if used on personal devices not on work ones.

As others think Telegram might be a best bet after May

First VOIP came out and then Skype. A bit confusing lol as Voip stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. Confusing as Skype and all the various chat apps use Voip but are different in there various platforms.

We all realised Skype was going to go when Microsoft bought it out but surprisingly it lasted and only going completely in May. I know many industries kept going with Skype but most will now change over to Teams.

I remember the days when “MSN?” was your next step to meeting someone lol…

As both are owned by Microsoft, would you use the same skype details (username, email, password) to login to Teams? Would your contacts move across?

Is Telegram preferred to Teams for video calls?

Great times on Skype ...easy to use etc...

Not sure Teams such a great idea to use.

Not a fan of telegram etc ...not as secure as people imagine ... apparently.

I've found recently the app not working on my Android phone. Used it often for naughty sessions.

Would be very interested in an alternative 🙏🏻

Ah! The old MSN messenger!

The hours i've spent talking shite on there and frequently ending up jumping in the car for a 3 hour drive for some impromptu shenanigans...the joys of the days of being self employed and life being fairly cheap to live

Signal is a nice alternative to use that you don’t have to give out your mobile numbers etc on you can share a link with contacts has video calls and made by the chaps who used to have what’s app before sold to meta so encrypted and independent

Except they'd always be living in Fort Lauderdale or something

Those IM days reminds me of that South Park clip from back then.

"Hi. I'm eight and a half inches".

Damn dude, this guy's tiny! He must be a dwarf.

"Sorry, I'm not interested in being friends with midgets. Midgets piss me off."

Not living in the UK

Back in the day we used Skype when Mrs D was meeting single males to make sure they looked like their face pic before moving on to a social, but we haven't used it for years now.

"whats a good option to skype though, im wondering ?"

There are loads out there but not sure which are “safe”.

You can video call from most messenger apps and there is a Google meeting thing (used for the first time yesterday) - although it did pick up my Google profile so that probably needs a bit of thinking and planning.
