"LHOTP books is what started my interest in America and one time thoughts of living there. Found it strange how Ingalls Wilder's name was taken off a literary award because of some of the language in her books, though it was the language at the times she was writing about. " She wasn't writing about "the language at the times", she was using the language of the times in her own voice, negative portrayals of native Americans and black people. I'm not saying Wilder should be banned or vilified, I'm saying that authors of 'their times' like Wilder, Enid Blyton, Dr. Seuss & Charles Dickens to name a few should be acknowledged to be racist in their writings, products of their times, yet non white children are taught to hold these writers in high esteem.
