Opinions on offering lifts or asking for lifts to or from meets.

How do you feel about being asked to pick ppl up or paying for cabs etc.

If I arrange to meet someone and they don't drive, I'll offer to come get them or come to theirs..

Happy if I know them already. Not on a first meet.

I wouldn't take a lift on a first meet. If it all goes pear-shaped I like to be able to get myself away.

Once I know someone it's very different.

I think it's up to the individual to get themselves to and from a meet.

Imagine being picked up and the date goes wrong

Happy to pay for a taxi but not offer a lift. Feels like a bit of a power imbalance picking up/ dropping off. I'd feel awkward about it so goodness knows how the other person would feel.

Just a thought. But would a fellow fabber taxi type service work if it could be arranged safely.

For example if you needed a lift to a meet and there was another fabber local to you willing to provide an uber style service. Obviously there would need to be something in place to ensure we are who we say we are. Poss send person needing lift. A pic of you driving licence for example to verify.

Is this something that could work? And would anyone use the service. Hypothetically if it were a thing?

No I wouldn’t. If they didn’t drive I would assume they’re capable of getting themselves around on public transport or arranging their own taxi. I’m not a chauffeur

Have done so, many times, and often been a lady friend's non-participating chauffeur / wingman.

It allows you to use the line “Would you like to sit in the front, or do you prefer it in the rear?”

Are you a chauffeur then? Or a taxi driver?

I can think of no other good reason to be in the back seat.

Is that not just where a taxi company or Uber would work?

They're registered, official and insured.

I wouldn't pay for, or offer to be someone's transport.

Likewise, I wouldn't expect it from anyone I'm meeting

I have no issue with picking up someone, taking them to my home and dropping them off later. Public transport is not great round my way.

I’ve had meets where the lady decided she didn’t want to play. No problem, we had a drink and a chat, then dropped her off.

But I also see a lot of statuses that are just people asking for a free taxi

I've had no problem asking guys to pick me up/drop me off. If they aren't happy with it they wouldn't do it. I won't do public transport to meets unless very local to me.

I very much prefer to make my own way to the meet. I don't arrange any meets with new people anywhere I could not get to by public transport.

If I haven't met them before I prefer to meet them somewhere public first and make my own way there. Once I'm comfortable with them then lifts are nice seeing as I don't drive 😅

feels like a bit of a safety issue for both people involved. Also perhaps to increase the expectations of something happening at the meet. good or bad.

what happens if you meet someone and you just dont get on with them. how do you leave/get back home again safely? ? ?

I misunderstood.

I actually thought you meant giving somebody a lift to a meet.... that you wasnt involved in, like a cab service 🤣

Now that would be odd , for both parties, the person who asks and the person giving a lift 🤦🏼‍♂️😃

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

Definately a social 1st....

If I'm with her she gets a free bodyguard any way. A shaven head & a very serious look deters most.

I would go to to what ever mode of transport she uses & stay till it comes. If we are familiar with one another & I'm in the car, then I wait for her to get back & put the light on & close the door. Or go back to her place if she poliutely asks.....

I’ve met couples and singles who were also waiting outside of hotels and shared Taxis to and from clubs. I’ve a couple of female friends that are on my way to a club so I regularly pick them up and drop them off. It’s really no bother.

It's funny here's me talking about not having lifts of people. When I was 14,15 and 16 I used to hitchhiker everywhere with friends and alone. It was how we got to places.

How times have changed, gives me goosebumps just thinking about it
