I tend not to use Amazon - getting rid of prime was one of the best things I did as it suddenly made me think about whether I really need whatever I had just ordered.

I have to say our cardboard recycling makes me want to weep most days, but that’s the price you pay for convenience.

Our delivery drivers are good too, always come to the door, even with 3 dogs shouting through the window at them.

Hate Amazon, they rejected my refund because apparently they received a packet of biscuits instead of the laptop I returned.

Their returns company just gave me a generic return receipt without any proof of weight or contents so I was left hundreds of pounds out of pocket

Most Amazon stuff is dropshipped from China (the identical item is listed by dozens of weirdly named companies), thus supporting the Chinese economy and damaging our own. To say nothing of the madness of shipping it half way round the world. So I avoid, where possible.

The online swinging world doesn't compare at all to the physical swinging world. If your genuine intrest is swinging then you really must get out their in the real world as well as online. Organised social events, clubs, parties, swinger resorts etc. That the best way to make genuine in person connections and plug into the wider swinging world.

Buying local, which to me means walking distance isn’t an option. My town/village/hamlet is basically one street and it’s filled with takeaway food, barber shops, hairdressers, and for variety sakes a couple of solicitors offices.

Amazon is a big convenience for me and the family. If I need stuff quick, I can get it same day. Result.

To be fair the front street where I live was dying long before Amazon anyone local will tell you how dire it is Tesco take a share of the blame after buying loads of buildings in the market place then leaving them empty in protest over a disagreement with the council basically turned the place into a ghost town

If my local shops sold what i wanted then id shop local more. And the journy to the city center tk probabky not much better shops ( which is a shithole ) isnt worth the effort when i can get it next day delivered and 9 times out of 10 cheaper. With easier returns.

Amazon all the way for me. Plus i get delivery and tv i. With the deal .. bargain.

My local shops dont offer that

I'm with you, Amazon is quick easy and convenient. Shop local I would if the shops were not closing down. The ones that are opened want cash. Corner convenient shops are expensive.

Here is one for you, I went to a large waterspoon bookshop, and the book I wanted was one that they did not stock. They could order it but it would take a couple of days

So it was a no, I got it from Amazon in 24hrs. Local shops and bigger national stores do little to improve their status. Other stores will tell you that the item you want is online only. So I firmly believe in shopping online.

High street stores are moving online because it saves them money. Cuts the wages by reducing staff. Cuts on business rates by move from real brick stores.

There is more customer satisfaction in online shopping. Facing shop staff in the high street can be stressful.

Anyway online shopping is for me.

Amazon isn’t always cheapest that’s a bit of a myth. But it is quick and it is convenient.

If it’s a branded product that I could buy in a bricks and mortar store like Boots/Tesco whatever I’m probably going to use Amazon as those stores are generally more expensive for similar products, and the service is much better. To buy from Tesco I have to travel there, find it on the shelf, take it to the checkout, scan it myself and pay of it. I can do all that from comfort of my own home and they will bring it.

However I do like supporting local independent businesses, so coffee while out in town is independent not StarCostaNero etc. Food similar local pizzeria one Pizza Express, independent Korean restaurant over Wagamama’s.

The big problem as I say above is for most products, clothes, technology etc it’s all made in China anyway. We are just paying the middle man who brought it here.

Let’s not also forget that Amazon itself supports a lot of independent businesses, it gives them a way of selling to a mass audience. I have had clients who sell on their Marketplace and make decent money, Amazon will even act as bank and lend them money for their next consignments based on the sales they achieve on the platform. So if you find a niche you can do very well as an independent business.

I don't have a terrestrial aerial and never used to watch broadcast TV nyway so streaming is all I've got.

I build a lot of PCs it is very difficult to find new components offline. Amazon is unfortunately convenient. For other things I try to use bricks and mortar shops where possible. The death of high street is inevitable though.

3 back of full sized toothpastes and a large listerene mouthwash for just under €5. My high street or supermarket can't compete with that. Do I feel bad about saving money in that instance, no. 🤷‍♀️

Rear side lights on my car both blown. They’re red bulbs because the housing is clear plastics. Halfords…..no, euro car parts…..no, local garage……no, Amazon…….yes, and I’ll have them before 1 today.

It is a difficult one as often can get quickly stuff you can't elsewhere. It depends how urgent something is. On top of the ethical stuff and working practices, they don't particularly make it easy to love them when they never read instructions, drop parcels wherever they like (not the safe place uou specified) and if they decide to let you know they are here, the bang your door rather than ring the bell
