This article from the LFC website is self explanatory and richly deserved for the many good things that have happened between LFC & EFC over the years in connection to Hillsborough.

Mind you as one wag posted, maybe The Kop could hold it up after the game too once EFC have gifted us 3 points...

Liverpool fans are set to thank Everton for their support to the families and victims of the Hillsborough disaster ahead of the Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Fans in the Kop will be asked to raise a card just before kick-off which will complete a mosaic that spells out 'THANKS'.

The idea came from Liverpool journalist Brian Reade, who writes for the Daily Mirror. Brian received the prestigious Cudlipp Award for Journalistic Excellence at the 2013 British Press Awards in recognition of leading the Mirror's Hillsborough campaign for justice.

LFC managing director Ian Ayre is supportive of the gesture.

"I want to take the opportunity to thank Bill Kenwright and Everton fans for their continued support for the families and victims of the Hillsborough disaster," said Ayre.

"It is the coming together of the families, supporters and the city that has made the huge breakthroughs of the last 12 months possible.

"Rivalry on the pitch and banter on the terraces are healthy things and are an important part of being a football supporter in this city. They are an important part of the derby atmosphere.

"However, it is the unity of both clubs and both sets of supporters when it's most needed that make our relationship so unique."

In preparation for the mosaic, the club is asking for volunteers to help lay the 12,390 cards on the Kop seats on Saturday at 10.30am

O o O oo

I know it was an awful tragedy and I can understand remembering Anniversarys and getting news about any developments in the ongoing enquiries....but this is all sounding maudlin sorry.

I am sure the people of Liverpool know that their neighbours/ other half of family are thankful for their ongoing support already.
