What foundations do you all recommend for older skin that doesn’t dry make you look worse x

Some of the serum foundations seem to be less thick.

I only use a tinted moisturiser sometimes but mostly like my skin to be bare.

I've found moving to a BB cream works for me 🥰

Not in your area

I use Maybelline matte/porless. It does dry out but when it does it looks very smooth.

Until I started using that brand I used to have the opposite problem, of getting foundations which were too greasy..

That said I did used to get my foundation in Poundland before I was experienced enough to respect the obvious difference in quality..

BB or CC cream is really good for fine lines/dry skin. It doesn’t cake or gather in creases and it moisturises you. No7 do a really good one and boots often have really good sales on!

I really like the Glossier skin perfecting tint. It's way lighter than foundation and not at all greasy. It doesn't give much coverage but I don't really want that anyway.

Revolution Serum foundation is perfect for drier or older skin.

If you're looking for foundation specifically, I use Nars light reflecting foundation. (Yes it's very expensive). Medium coverage, more of a dewy effect. I've heard it recommended for more mature skin, and it's more forgiving on my lines than some others

I find a decent primer (currently using estee lauder futurist aqua brilliance glow) and the Oskia Nutri Bronze tinted serum is a really nice combination. You can always put a little powder over the top as well if you prefer a more matte look xx

I never did try it so don't know who it works for and under what circumstances, but The Ordinary are re-releasing their foundation. (The old Mac conversion won't work, I don't think, because there are new shades)

o o OO o o

Bookmarking! Damned if I can find one!! I moisturise and my skin ALWAYS looks dry if I put foundation on it.

I’m pondering that Laura Gella powder one but I can’t see how a powder foundation won’t look dry either.

I like the natural look so nothing too heavy is wanted, just something to make me look less knackered.

MAC serum foundation after plenty of skin prep. I don’t wear a lot so it’s just enough to even my tone

I use Estee Lauder double wear, and it's been a fave of mine for years. If you apply it correctly and only use a tiny amount it looks great all day.

Obviously a good moisturizer and primer helps with any foundation.

Makeup Artist of 20 years. First thing is to sort your skin care and get your skin in good shape. If your skin is bad no foundation will sit perfectly.

Price side Armani luminous silk or Lisa Eldridge skin tint. Cheap elf the glowy one or L’Oréal true match. Only powder where you need it and use a foundation brush NYX do a good one x

I bought that after being bombarded on insta and a friend said it was okay. I find it looks powdery amd coverage is on a par with a tinted moisturiser. Not worth the pennies.

Everyone I know who has used the Armani raves about it.

This is SO good! Thank you!

Has anyone used Il Makiage Woke Up Like This foundation? I get bombarded on Instagram about it and I have seen good reviews... never sure if they are just placed reviews, though.

Thanks x

I have, I use it when I need more coverage and you can't tell I have foundation on. It says use 2 pumps, I only use 1 pump and it's still plenty as long as my skin is hydrated. I've been using for 3 years now or something, their concealer is also amazing.

I stopped using foundation years ago, preferring a tinted moisturiser, or CC cream. If I feel I need a little more coverage in those I mix a little foundation in. But yeah. I’d say I focus more on skin prep and care than I do cover. Love my masks & exfoliating routine for a treat, then vitamin c & retinol serums, and a damn good moisturiser daily! Sort out the base and you’ll rarely need a heavy foundation

Superdrug's Optimum retinol is pretty good, particularly for the price.

Oooh! Might try it next. I’m currently using a brand called Eva. Get them on amazon. Their vitamin C plus serum is sooooo good and smells amazing 😊 just got their retinol serum and loving that too. But I do splash out on my moisturiser… rose one by Fresh (I know Harrods stalk them but not sure who else does). Anyway. If you love a rose smell and a cream than melts into your skin and instantly moisturises, it’s amazing. Definitely worth the price.

I use Cerave - the ones you get in the giant tubs. It's probably meant for the body but it works really well on my face.
