That is still English, only we don't speak like that anymore." We don’t but I can still understand what they are saying. If someone used the phrase stringing them along, I would no what was meant. If someone said bread crumbing, I wouldn’t have known what they were on about had it not been for the above explanation. People who wish to ‘update’ language, should be prepared for people to either not understand or misunderstand. | |||

First time I read Chaucer at school I genuinely felt like it was another language. The point is that people might not always get it, but a willingness to learn helps. | |||
