If you get brown carpets you'll never need to clean a stain.

Find a good one and then pick complementary colours.

I've been in this house 6 years and still haven't got round to doing every room

Living room

pale ash karndeen flooring, white walls, light grey wallpaper on fireplace wall, light wood furniture - colour is injected through wall art

Kitchen & utility

Same flooring as living room, air force blue kitchen with white tops, white walls, black vertical radiators - again wall art injects the colour

Bathroom

Navy blue units, walk in shower, ivory textured tiles, matt black fittings and fixings

Bedroom 1

Grey tartan wallpaper to bedhead wall, very light grey walls, white wood furniture b&w retro prints for decoration

Bedroom 2

Botanical green feature wall, other walls white, pale wood laminate, light wood furniture

Bedroom 3

Still not done - random furniture, not decorated at all

Lots of pink in my house, and pops of other bright colours through the artwork. Kitchen is cream and sage green for the tiles and cabinets with pink plates, mugs, etc. Very girly.

Somewhere In The Ether…

My house is a new build and came fully decorated throughout….in sterile white.

I keep meaning to pluck up the effort to add a bit of colour to it but have not as of yet managed to muster the requisite effort as I am clearly a lazy sod of some not inconsiderable note 😩

One day though….I’d like some feature walls at the very least 😃

oak wood flooring..doors white

.Pebble grey 3 x walls ..

.feature wall darker grey wallpaper(hint of silver pattern)...

Long Black gloss tv unit.

Light grey suite .

( I know boring)

The only room I’ve decorated since the ex left is sitting room and thats a grey/dark blueish colour with black woodwork (exception being the picture rail which is same grey/blue, coving and ceiling are too), rest is still the exes decor will change it all but when rear and side extension finished it is looking tatty though so needs it sooner rather than later

Living Room and kitchen are fairly neutral with bright accents. My office is shades of blue, "kids" bedroom is jade green, ours purple and grey and the bathroom is black and grey.

I couldn't live anywhere that had bare white walls, far too sterile.

Try using a colour wheel and using colours either side for harmony. In line colours of same tone for subtle effect. Or total opposite on wheel for dramatic contrast

I love strong colours and a lot of them: navy blue with pops of mustard yellow in the living room, dark grey and orange in the dining room, navy blue and white in the kitchen, emerald green in the bathroom, mint and white on the landing, and yellow and white in my bedroom.

Crisp white appears in every room to tie it all together.

I used to have feature walls in my old house and loved it.

Here it's how I moved in, very pale green in the living area and magnolia everywhere else. It's small so don't think it would take bright colours

Ooooo my kinda thread!

Living room : Lilac walls with a pale pink fireplace (sounds awful but it’s not) and then other colours dotted around in various accessories. Lots of pictures and lamps.

My bedroom is pale yellow with a feature wall that is papered in a dark botanical print with chintzy curtains.

I like colour and folksy boho interiors. Minimalist I am not!
