If you were getting into a relationship with someone and discovered they don’t recycle, would it put you off them?

Is environmental awareness in others important to you?

It wouldn't put me off them. If I was getting into a relationship with someone then I would have already discovered qualities in that person who would have a progressive outlook in life, and willing to consider adapting for the betterment of society.

If she wouldn't be amenable to change then I would deny her mind-blowing sex and leave her (environ)mentally frustrated.

Not at all, in fact, if the other person was over bearing with things like this they’d get recycled pretty quickly.

Recycling no, but if she tosses rubbish on the ground she can take herself out to the local dump and stay there.

People who litter are worse than people who smoke at bus stops.

I think it would annoy me greatly.

My longest ever partner got a bunch of curtains from a family friend for our new place. Said to keep any that fit our windows and pass them on if they don’t. He ended up throwing away the other sets of curtains and I was horrified. Didn’t break up with him though. At least not about that.

They can always be "educated" and taught the error of their ways!

Well, I prefer a plastic straw to a paper straw. But when I buy a plastic bottle of water I make sure I use it for several days whenever possible. I recycle everything but accept that sometimes (in our current society) SUP is the only appropriate choice.

in real life , very little recycling goes the full cycle, whilst the general public does there bit , once in the dustcart a lot of it goes to the same place...landfill.

I'd prefer someone who cares for the world and others and recycling could be part of this.

I'd almost certainly not be able to date a climate change denier.

If it was something new, I spoke to them and they didn’t make any changes, I’d be reconsidering things. Same with people that buy new plastic bags every time they shop or buy clothes, wear them 1-2x for a night out and then bin them. Different values to me and I think similar values are important long term. 🤷🏻‍♀️

In a relationship, yes it's important.

For one off fuckery they could put nuclear waste in the blue bin for all I care.

It might not be a dealbreaker if they were perfect in every other way, but I would try and gently educate them on why it's good to recycle.

My stance is usually seated.

I'm not having a relationship with an environmental disaster

It would depend on why. If they were lazy and didn’t care about the planet they wouldn’t be for me.

Depends on attitude why. If it was indifference to the planet I'd have issue with that. Then again if it was plain ignorance then I'm unlikely to find someone that oblivious attractive in the first place.

So yes, I think it would matter to me.

Nope people live by their own views etc. recycling sits pretty low in list of critical compatibility issues for me

If someone was a fanatical recycler it would be a deal breaker for me. I can't be doing with making ornament from old bread bins.

Also if someone was a fanatical non recycler and carelessly threw cardboard in with tin foil it would put me off too.

A nice comfortable compromise somewhere in the range of having a compost bin and putting your tin cans out on the correct day will do me.
