Those "guys" you speak of are proffering to be 'hinged' as opposed to unhinged, of which there are many on here of the opposite sex. 😉

Typical, average, within societally acceptable bounds.

I don't think you can deem yourself normal. It's up to others

I don't disagree with you, I rarely get messages off females

I guess we all have different likes, dislikes but that's not what I mean by normal

Yes, this - it's what people believe society deems as normal, whereas my normal might be completely different (and more interesting )

Yeah that’s the thing, it’s something that can only be proven with time rather than ‘claimed’ I think.

If a guy's normal, I don't want to know.

I'll quote Michele Pfeiffer from Batman Returns: "Sickos never scare me - at least they're committed".

I read that as ‘I’m trying to be as neutral as possible until I know what will work with you then I’ll say I’m that.

It usually means dull.

If there was a filter for normal I'd have it on.

If they say it on this site, perhaps they are implying that they are more on the vanilla side.

I'm not sure..

All over

Usually normal would describe one with behaviours that conform to the most common ones in society. However, normal can often only be recognized in contrast to abnormal that is much more easily recognisable

Normal is relative I guess.

Unless you get messages off an actual relative which is absolutely abnormal.

Hope that helps !

Reading

I find those 'who wants to be normal, anyway, ugh' comments fascinating.

I think those of us that stick out and can never be entirely socially acceptable for whatever reason would definitely like to feel 'normal' sometimes.

How lucky for those of you that can choose that or not.

'Normal' is shaped by both experience and societal expectations

My experience will differ from yours and yours from mine, yet we will be more alike than we are different

I guess that makes us normal

I think it goes the other way too. Those who try really hard to distance themselves from what might be perceived as normal. Those that are so different and by extension interesting.... usually aren't.

Completely agree.

I'm not normal. 99% of the population aren't trans. There's no getting away from it and I'm not hiding, so it's a point if interest and a conversation that has to be had with prospective partners but it's not my whole life.

There's plenty of other things that make me me. There's also a hell of a lot of people for whom their transition is their whole personality.

That goes for a lot of people though - their jobs, hobbies, the book they've just read. If you've only got one thing to talk about it doesn't matter how unusual or "abnormal", I'm sorry but I'm gonna start yawning eventually.

Can I just say keep being you. Being different doesn't mean to me you aren't normal!

You are you, you are unique as we all are even if we have differences again doesn't make you not normal x

Majority of people who say they are not normal are as dullas ditch water.

Majority of people fit under the umbrella as normal whether they like it or not.

I'm happy to be normal

No such thing. Each persons definition of normal is coloured by their own experiences and what others around them have told them. There is such a thing as social norms. A collective set of unwritten rules that as a society we agree to in general.

Maybe what they perceive to be the average behaviour of others. To be honest, sounds a little boring. I guess when it comes to behaviour it may in some respects better being average joe that some lunatic. He but how many head the balls did you meet that said ‘I’m ahead the ball’? 😂
