All over

Just thought I share. This weekend went out and as usual I tried to find a relatively quiet cafe to enjoy a bit of time, coffee and cake. It was unsually quiet and very enjoyable. Then these two wonen and six young children walk in and all of a sudden it was as if the whole place was tranformed into an amusement park in blackpool or somewhere. Kids running all over the place, the two women shouting from the counter across the room asking them what they wanted etc, etc. I know people these days seem to feel very entitled when they go out and disregard the others around them as long as they have a good time, however this was on another scale. I turned around to look at one point, not even saying anything at all and one of the women shouts at me 'what are you looking at, they are just children'. I should have zipped it as I know that sort of people and how they respond but I did say ' and you are mothers and responsible for them'. Then the barage of abuse started even though I was not even looking at them. 'My kids are happy and that's all that matters to me', You must have been a very miserable child and still are', 'If you don't like it, go elsewhere'...By that time the guy and lady behind the bar came over to them and asked them to calm down and later when they brought my order apologised though of course they had nothing to apologisefor. I just ignored them of course but thought to myself, wow behaving like that in front of your children, what sort of behaviour do they learn and how to treat others in the future. I do like to see children happy and enjoying themselves of course but I also think that parents should set some boundaries, especially in public and definately think that as parents behaving like that in front of the kids is aborent. Perhaps I am a bitold school, who knows. It seems that anything goes these days. Apologies for sharing such a long post but I felt rather shocked to be honest as I am someone who tries to treat people well, respectful of pthers and often strike a friendly conversation in public, whether in a shop, a cafe or the bus stop. Oh well, thanks for listening

I think it's daft to let kids run about anywhere that someone might be carrying a very hot drink or food. I also think it's a good idea to set an example to your children.

Sorry your peaceful coffee was spoiled

I adapted a Mary Berry scone recipe this morning because I fancied chocolate chips. We just had one with coffee, delicious and very filling. Next time I'll make them a little smaller
