Do you think bisexual men and women are judged equally by society?

I sometimes wonder if it’s more socially acceptable for women to be bi than men.

The simple answer is no they are not judge the same it's more socially acceptable for women to be bi then a man.

You see it so often people's prejudice against bi men.

By the way I like my men to be bi.

Has to be so much harder to be a bi man 😞

As a woman, I still get biphobic comments but hopefully the tide is turning.

It's almost mandatory for women to be bisexual or at least display traits of it. If men danced together the way I've seen women do they'd be heavily criticised

It's a double-edged sword; women are expected to be performatively bisexual, and interest in gay sex between women is assumed to be performative. I don't think it's really any more acceptable for women to be bisexual - it's more like "straight plus" is more acceptable, and that is what a bisexual woman is assumed to be.

But yes, while I'm not really bisexual it has always annoyed me how people - especially women - would make clear how they're not okay with me being interested in having sex with men (or whoever they consider to be men), often without any reason to think I would be in the first place. I couldn't really see it as any different from expressing that they didn't want me to be attracted to black women.

Erm... I run a gauntlet

I am a bi man, currently in a same sex relationship

In the eyes of many, that makes me gay, not bi

Apparently, men can only be bi if their full time relationship is with a woman

I am also in a mixed age relationship

Being the older of us, in the eyes of many that makes me a predator at least, and much more than that at worst

Never mind the fact that my OH out earns me threefold salary wise, I must be a 'sugar daddy'

I mean, why else would a young, nice looking, successful, fit bloke be with an older fat fella?

I realise that I have exaggerated my response to something that should have a simple yes/ no response

I do this not to give it any 'woe is me' because tbh, I couldn't be happier (save for maybe having my parents around and some better health)

I do it to demonstrate that people DO judge and they judge about many things, not just one

The worst thing anyone can do in the face of this judgement is to lurk in the shadows, to remove themselves from the scope of the judgement

Only by being honest with yourself as well as others, only by showing others that you are multi-faceted, only by refusing to be defined by whatever it is you are being judged for... only then might mindsets begin to blur or change

I used to find it tiring, but it doesn't need to be a battle - just be yourself and show people you

Some will lose the judgement, some won't

But you simply can't win every mind or every battle

... and whilst we're on it, yes, bi men get judged in this lifestyle, but so do women, all women

... and don't even get me started on the judgement that dressers and trans members get - and often from those that should be supporting them

"Are you asking for a friend ? "

Haha! No MB, this was just a general wondering from watching my something on tv a couple of nights back. Sorry everyone for abandoning the thread, let’s get going with some thoughts and musings.

I’ve been openly bi as I feel I’d be judged by friends. Only a few close friends know

Yes, women are allowed much greater sexual and gender flexibility in society. Female transvestites are extremely rare because it is normal for a woman to dress like a man but not vice Versa. If a woman is bisexual, it’s fine because men find it arousing and men make the rules on what’s allowed and acceptable.

I haven't found it so much on fab but I have met and seen a lot of women online who say they're 'bi' mostly to arouse men and have no real interest in other women. It's gross and I don't like it.

I think this is the best post I’ve seen on the subject on this site.

Was it ‘something on tv’ where they didn’t wear clothes and seemed to be wrestling? That sort of thing?

Definitely different for women. A cursory look at profiles here tells you that. How many profiles say "no bisexual women"?

Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if I was bi.

I imagine it would be magical. Maybe the subject of a docudrama on Netflix.

No, of course not. There's alot of forum threads on this where it's been discussed in lengthy detail.

The way a bisexual woman is viewed compared to a bisexual man is polar different. There's a reason men lie about it and women don't have to and can have it on their profile.

But at the end of the day, it's better to stay true to who you are than to 'play' the system to try and get meets!
