I went to the gym for 6 weeks once. It was prescribed by my gp for back problems.

I hated every second of it and vowed never to go again. Also I'm too lazy

I lost my mojo for the gym/exercising when going through the menopause cycle about 9yrs ago.

Started back at the end of August last year and now, I get excited to go again to go. It's a happy place for me.

I workout at home...got stuff in the garage (treadmill/ bikes/skipping ropes).

Got squat wedges & pull up bars scattered round the house. I do lots of bodyweight exercises..and try and go on long hikes every month or 2.

I've never been a member of a gym though.

Because i'm a human being. I'm made to move just like all other human beings and I know it's good for my health and i'd get ill without moving

BUT thank fuck I am from a pre gym, pre bottled water , pre exorbitantly expensive gym gear and running shoe shite.

I see through all the hype and know it's my money that is wanted and that's all. I think they are very clever though - inventing something you don't need and getting you to pay through the nose for it.

I'm also pre car generation so ..... I still walk most places and pick up the pace for fun and the health benefits. A good day cleaning up, shifting furniture, doing the garden / playing with the kids , walking the dog ..... using stairs etc etc etc ....

If you are active in the day you dont need the gym. Even someone in a sedentary job could just walk to work and back. Job done.

I do swim tho and if the water was clean here I'd swim in that instead of the local pool.

Because I have enough equipment at home, can play the music I want, don’t have to wipe down every machine before and after, with the added bonus I don’t have to pay a monthly DD or battle for a parking space at peak times.

I live in the countryside (5 minutes from Ullswater), and it’s a drag to jump in the car to just go to the gym, so I do workouts at home.

I do exercise daily, starting each day with a stretching routine. I also run 5k once per week. It keeps me in good shape for a middle-aged man I feel

It actually gets worse for me, I have a gym at work, park 10ft from it and can go in during working hours as I'm not on the clock. I'd rather be in the canteen eating fry ups and drinking full fat cans of pop

That's a great scenic place for hiking/walking, the whole area feels prehistoric...

There's a really good circular walking route I've done there, starting at pooley bridge

I started going to the gym after 6 weeks physio at local hospital, who referred me to the gym to carry on, normally I'd go through the necessary and then stop. But I joined a circuit class and I'm really loving it. Being pushed by someone (she's also very fit), I'm seeing results and my knackered knees feel less painful. Just waiting to have both replaced.

Workout at home and run. I find gym's quite intimidating. Though I have lots of respect for gym go'ers not just in the results but also the journey. Must take a lot of dedication and commitment.

I do like going to the gym but I just had too much to do last week and couldn't fit a session in. Twice the week before and twice next week to make up for it.

I kinda need to, though, whether I like it or not.

Not in your area

When I used to play football in my younger days, sometimes we would have to use the gym to train when it was not possible to train outside due to weather conditions, and tbh I just found it very boring.

I'm generally quite fit and active, but I'll probably never be able to enjoy the gym

I missed the gym last night as well, so that'll be the 3650th night in a row.

Seriously, I go to the gym (go gym is the way my kids say it) day on, day off, and has been this way for a while.

Nowadays my job is very sedentary, and it is too easy for the timber to accumulate.

I am now tracking my macros, something that I have never done before and eating healthy.

It's an age thing I guess as I am now "fab invisible" and on my 60th year round the sun.

Ax

I found the gym really boring, and I'm too disorganised/lazy to find a netball/rounders team, which I know I'd enjoy.

My job's very physical and allows me to tell myself that I can get away with no formal excercise

Recently tried to signup for a fitness scheme at my local gym, but they rejected me because my blood pressure is 'oh fuck' on the high side. Seems I'm too unfit to get fit .

but I'm testing out new hypertension medication and will reapply in the future I'm looking forward to trying the gym equipment like the steam room and jacuzzi

I'd definitely increase the big multi billion companies' taxes and put that back into public services such as the NHS and the education sector.
