"Narcissists might celebrate Valentine's Day, but their motivations and the way they approach it can differ from others. For narcissists, the day might focus on receiving attention, admiration, or validation rather than the mutual connection and affection typically emphasized on Valentine's Day. They might want to be praised for their generosity or charm, and they may expect their partner to go out of their way to make them feel special. If they don’t get the attention they seek, they may become upset or feel slighted. In relationships with narcissists, Valentine’s Day might not be about shared affection, but more about securing validation for themselves. Do you have an opinion when it comes to narcissists and Valentine's Day? ![]() I’d say the difference between those who like praise and attention and a narcissist is the intention behind it. Where as some would see these as a form of flattery, or reassurance. A narcissist would see them as a form of worship. To them this is a day that is not about giving and receiving love, but rather a tool to be utilised in building their self belief. Example - average person would give a gift to show someone they care, a narcissist would do so to either love bomb (if in that stage) or to use as a referenced weapon in future. There is always a self centred intention behind their actions. | |||
