So what type of podcasts do you normally go for? General interests? Learning opportunities? Ones that put you in a good mood?

What do you look for and how many episodes do you give it to see if it's right for you?

This is me! I like Richard Osman so I listen to his Entertainment one, I also like Joe Wilkinson but find on a podcast it doesn’t work so he went after 5mins 😂

I might be weird but, to date, I’ve never listened to a podcast in my life.

I also don’t intend to change this 🤷🏽

Only regular one is the Daddy of history podcasts, The Rest is History. Generally I find them a disappointing and time consuming way to absorb info and entertainment 🤷‍♂️.

It's always the premise for me. I can generally get through an episode but definitely bin it off if I don't vibe with it!

I stick one on for background noise sometimes. It usually something funny that doesn’t require my full attention.

The Basement Yard and ShxtsNGigs are two of my favourites.

I like a mixture of podcasts, started with true crime and comedy but I've listened to quite a few for learning new skills and broadening my knowledge too.

Mostly listen whilst working, makes me feel like I have buddies 😅

I like history podcasts. I also listen to one swinging podcast which I’ve also guested on 😂 and I listen to one where two Irish women rip apart a popular series of young adult books (SVH) popular in the 80s and 90s which make me cry laughing.

Someone Is Killing The Wolfhounds is a fictionalised podcast series of the Vietnam War. Aboit a group of soldiers plotting to kill their rogue Lieutenant. It is really fascinating and has me hooked.

Another podcast I'm listening too is called the Fall of Civilizations series. Each episode is 3 hours long. Talked about Assyrians, Egyptians, Byzantines, Carthage, Mongols.

I've been meaning to get into history podcasts a lot more. Is that the one you would recommend? I do think they've become a bit oversaturated so it's tough finding the gems among the crap.

I do prefer the more funny podcasts and having them as background noise is great! I'm not sure if you like food, but check out Off Menu hosted by Ed Gamble and James Acaster. It's my favourite one and absolutely hilarious

Girls Next Level is my favourite- 2 of Hugh Hefner’s ex girlfriends talking about their time living in the Playboy mansion. I found the TV series fascinating and the podcast deep dives into what wasn’t shown.

I personally find Holly and Bridgette adorable, although some may find them annoying lol

Some people listen to podcasts to help them with sleep.

I'm going to try it, but it'd have to be a really boring one with a monotone voice.

Any suggestions?

I'm biased but imho it's head and shoulders the best. The two presenters are serious historians but also natural communicators with great chemistry. Read that 7/10 listeners are under 40 which is interesting as presenters both older.

I think finding them annoying would be preconception based on where they came from. I certainly bet they have some stories to tell though!

It really is and I can’t remember how I stumbled across it but it’s hilarious. They run through the plot of each book and pull apart the terrible stereotypes, awful messaging and dreadful plot holes. For any (most likely) women who read Sweet Valley High as a kid/teen, you have to try it.

Oh yeah, they have some great stories and share lots of Playboy history as well.

I think the monotonal Californian accents would also grate on some people.
