Just seen this idea and though it was brilliant 🤩 so out of curiosity decided to try.

If I were to cook you lunch, and assuming there aren’t any allergies, dietary restrictions or food preferences, I would suggest :

A) Pappardelle al ragù bianco - thick ribbons of pasta coated in a slow-cooked white meat sauce with white wine, rosemary, and a touch of cream. Simple yet deeply flavorful. Served with a side of focaccia barese, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and dotted with tomatoes and olives.

For afters – a proper panna cotta with fresh berries and a drizzle of honey. Or, if we’re feeling fancy , a homemade cannolo siciliano, crisp pastry shell filled with sweet ricotta, orange zest, and chocolate shavings.

B) A slow-braised beef bourguignon, rich with red wine, garlic, and herbs, served over a bed of buttery mashed potatoes or a chunk of crusty bread to soak up every last drop. A side of haricots verts (French-style green beans) tossed with almonds and lemon zest for a fresh, crunchy contrast.

For afters – a warm apple tarte Tatin, caramelized to perfection and served with a dollop of crème fraîche. Or just a classic yet divine crème brûlée, with that perfect crack of caramelized sugar on top .

"We’re going to need a third option for the picky eaters…"

You’re totally right … hmmmm

Can try a grilled whole sea bass, seasoned simply with olive oil, lemon, and herbs, served alongside a bright and zesty Mediterranean salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and feta cheese . A side of roasted baby potatoes with garlic and rosemary for good measure.

For dessert – a lemon olive oil cake, moist, fragrant, and served with a scoop of homemade basil gelato(which takes a lifetime) . Or, if we keep it light, a delicate fruit sorbet, sweet and fresh!

I'll eat any of the 3.

A few bits on each I'd be unable to eat, but dammit I'd have some anyway!

Very impressed if you could cook them!

No pressure on me at all , as I love to cook and about anything nice you could say I do not carry expectations . You could be disappointed even when eating out tho or maybe just been my experience 😕

Oh absolutely. But I don't feel obliged to say something nice about a meal I didn't enjoy if I'm eating out.

I hate lying, and I hate hurting people's feelings. If someone is that into cooking and takes pride in it I need to be able to test it somewhere less intimate and where I don't feel like feedback is expected.

I would absolutely hate for someone to surprise cook for me early days. I'd be too in my head about what if I don't like it to even enjoy it if it was good.

Which is why I'd choose eating out 💜

If I was gonna try it I wouldn't go out and waste my money buying it,I would go out and buy all the cheapest veg and ingredients to make it, and I would just try making it the best way I can myself. I don't have to buy expensive meals in a restaurant or anywhere to enjoy the taste or experience the taste or too stay healthy. I say stick to what you know and enjoy what you love eating. Unless you're partner requests it for a special occasion like a anniversary or valentines then I suggest you save up and take her for a fancy meal like this and be grateful for all the wonderful things they do for you. Luckily mine wouldn't eat that, she would be over the moon with a big mac or saveloy and chips lol
