I changed a toilet flush mechanism once.

The handle broke and the only replacements in b&q was push button ones.

Somehow me and YouTube managed and it worked better than most of the pubic toilets.

I like attention to detail but I’m crap at doing that so I’ll pay someone who knows what their doing I’m ok putting up flat pack furniture

I'm actually quite shit at doing the simple things around the house, putting up a mirror/pictures straight, painting etc. But I've managed to build a 10ft x 6ft garden bar without any power tools, and a 6 x 4 shed on my allotment.

I want to learn how to do alterations to clothes. It’s an underrated skill.

I think I'm ok at most things. I've fitted kitchens & bathrooms, done loads of painting, tiling, etc. I'll do simple electrics, changing light fittings, etc, but anything more complicated I'd get the professionals in. I think the secret to good diy is knowing your limitations and know when to ask for help.

Depending on point of view it is either useful or dangerous that I can legally DIY certain things that the appropriate professional legally cannot. Let's call it an interesting loophole! It's up there with E-type Jags not requiring an mot. Safe for one person and not for the next

diy is not just for men as any lady can do it, if they so choose to do so.

I will offer any advice to anyone that wants it.

Yes I have been told to leave me to doing it and im fine with that.

I do most of the trades so its not diy to me.

from electrical to plastering to roofing so I tend to do alot of the trades

Putting a door up, building a shed, extending a table*, replacing (badly) wardrobe doors.

* I needed to turn a round table that fit 4 people on it, into a table that could fit 12. It was ugly, but it was straight, more important flat and level.
