They're entirely different things, in my view. You can be a gentleman and dominant. And be a gentleman and a 'teddy bear'. You can be a gentleman and neither of those things.

Completely agree.. infact I believe you need to be a gentleman to be truly dominant, if you lack trustworthiness and respect then you’re just taking advantage of someone in my book and that’s completely different thing.

Sorry OP but being dominant has nothing to do with being a gentleman or not. There are dominant gentlemen, submissive gentlemen, switch gentlemen, teddy bear gentlemen….

My point is one is not exclusive of the other.

If there are people you’re connecting with that have specific wants that you’re not comfortable sharing…. Then don’t meet them. It’s clear you’re not compatible.

However that really doesn’t have anything to do with being a gentleman.

I think I know what you mean. In that maybe it's a confidence thing?...you want to be more out going and say things. Be a bit risqué. But your not comfortable with that as your too polite, even though you'd be comfortable saying those things if you were to ever meet a person to be risque with.

It really depends on what you mean by "gentleman", and yes I've seen what you said.

Some people - based on recollections of other 'gentleman/ polite' discussions I've seen here in the past - seem to think men only come in two modes. 1. simpering, deferential, boring, or 2. crude, aggressive, bordering on predatory.

If you're one of them OP, I'll suggest somewhere in between.

Opening doors and such - some people like it. Some people don't. I don't, although I don't hold it against someone who doesn't know me. (Someone who does know me, and I've told, yeah, they need to knock it off. Politeness and courtesy is specific to the circumstances and people you find yourself in/ with)
