Just seen the very sad passing of Brian Murphy …. no doubt many will be asking who the heck is he! …. but for those of us of a certain age - and re-runs on ITV3

…. who could forget the irrepressibly annoying George Roper in George and Mildred in the 80s, and latterly Alvin Smedley in Last of the Summer Wine… I also didn’t know he was married to one of the Hi-de-hi girls.😳

Another British comedy legend gone. ☹️

He was a great comic actor. I still laugh at the episode of One foot in the grave where he was hanging from the roof

I always enjoyed watching him.

I think there are only two surviving cast members of Last of The Summer Wine left now.

RIP

He was also a good straight actor as well. I seem to remember enjoying him in an episode of Jonathan Creek.

This is sad, He spent so long without his chum (Yootha Joyce).

I hope that Mildred doesn't nag him for keeping her and Truffles waiting: no! On second thoughts I do want to see that. It would be hilarious and so fitting to their legacy.

(Proud owner of the George & Mildred boxset)

RIP Brian, hope someone throws 50p on your coffin.

As far as I know Barry and Glenda are still alive as is Crusher from the cafe. So is Russ Abbot (Hobbo) and Keith Clifford (Billy, direct descendant of Robin Hood)
