From a woman's/couples perspective, there is no way to please everyone. If we delete messages, we will either get abuse and block them, or they'll notice the deleted message and message from a new account a few days later, seemingly hoping we won't remember their face. If we don't reply, we will get message after message. If we block them at that point. They will try again on a new account. Opening them and then just leaving them and responding at all seems to generate the least amount of abuse and attempted deception. I've never checked my sent folder to see if someone has opened my messages, unless it's been someone we've already made arrangements with. Why would you sit there checking the status of messages you've sent to strangers feeling as though you need an answer from them??? To answer the question on why they're left on read, for us it could be any number of things. Sometimes we don't mind explaining. For example one guy who sent us a face pic and he looked like my (Mrs) brother. I also have a thing about people with the same name as the younger members of my family. I don't mind explaining that. But if the reason we aren't interested in them is because they either haven't read our profile, or have read our profile and ignored the things we say we arent interested in, then we are less likely to explain because it will nearly always result in them taking it as an opportunity to try to convince us, refusal to understand they're not going to be the exception and even outright begging. I thought one bloke was going to start making suicide threats the other week after we replied "Thank you very much, you aren't right for us, but have a good day and happy gabbing" the way he was going on about his life full of rejection and loneliness and all because the mean women won't give him and his faceless profile that lists several things that are absolute no's and would be a violation to them a chance, because they're just shallow and he would never be good enough. When I used to message women those messages were •solicited• because their profiles clearly stated they were looking to meet men, for socials and possibly 'more'. So, your "2 minutes" instantly becomes 3 hours, and that's ignoring the fact that during the time you're replying to all of those, you're visible as online now, so more people are messaging. It was a big effort sending hundred of messages during long wasting hours
For what?
Every single guy sent me back a message replying:
Why not your type? Taste me. You not going to regret it. Can we at least have a chat, be friends…
So instead of 900 messages I got 1800 in my inbox
And then the guys started texting me, why are you not chatting with me anymore? are you ok babe? And so that, until the classic “You are a fake slut, you are a wasting of time”
Then, when I got hidden they were able to continue bombarding me because they got a reply, from where they can continue message me from
Not anymore

Because I value the time I have and given the sheer volume of messages most women get on here - if we actually spent time replying to people we have zero interest in engaging with half our day would be eaten up by that activity alone. It clearly states in our profile that we're not looking for single men and that messaging at any other time other than when we have a meet up is just a wasted message. It also states that sending us dick pics will also result in no reply. And yet the type of message we received the most? Messages from single guys with dick pics attached. What's more rude/arrogant? Us not replying to a message which the sender already knows is unwanted, or the sender completely ignoring our clear wishes and doing it anyway? As for there being no harm in responding anyway, yes there is. Because responding with a "no thanks" generates even more abuse.
