And finally downloaded telegram. Apart from not having the glitches you get elsewhere I'm not seeing the hype. Am I missing something?

There are some words you should not use on telegram, Russia, Moscow, Ukraine and if you are a western politician, anything about a shag you should not have had, on the pluse side you may find a sudden rise in the number of young women after you.

Any one who insists I use this or that social platform i avoid.

I’m not sure what hype you were after - it’s a chat app, pretty much the same as WhatsApp, so only used when chatting to people.

We’ve used it for 5 years for connecting with people from FAB once we’ve established an attraction and had no issues but don’t go looking for other users on there or chat groups.

Just used for private chats and group socials.

Seperates family/friends and kink nicely

I think it will be useful for that separation. It'll be good not to have to give my number out again.

I'm not sure what I was expecting tbh.

There is no hype.

I often seem to 'wax lyrical' about Telegram on the forums and I'm an unrelenting advocate for it. However, at the end of the day it's just an extremely useful messaging app that I use for my Fab life. It's intuitive and indispensable for group chats (e.g. for Fab organised socials and get togethers). I like how you can 'contextualise' responses by selecting excerpts of text from the other person and adding emphasis; obliterating messages from your side and the recipient's - things that you cannot do with WhatsApp.

From a male perspective if I'm chatting to a woman on Fab it's the obvious platform because otherwise our chats get lost in her busy inbox.

It's private, secure and I've never had any glitches from it. It's also highly encrypted but I care less about that because there's nothing untoward in my chats/messages.

As for those obtuse people who say "Ukraine this, Russia that, so many bots, women reaching out to you, fakes this 'n that'... It's all nonsense.

Perhaps they need to use Kik™.

I follow a content creator on Telegram who posts a lot about Russia and Ukraine in both English and Russian. This is bollocks

I talk to my partner on there everyday. But that’s about it tbf. I use it more than WhatsApp though. I hate that app.

I think the reason for the "hype" is a matter of circumstance and timing.

When I joined Fab, the app people used if they didn't want to share their number was Kik. Kik was later bought out by another company and quickly became unusable.

People tried a number of alternatives and Telegram became a favourite. As others have said, it's not necessarily special (in fact it doesn't have end to end encryption).

These days, now Signal has enabled usernames, I'd be inclined to recommend that if starting from scratch.

It's just a message program. The only differences to most of the others is that it doesn't insist on giving your phone number out to everyone and the people who wrote it will let you have some privacy. There's a lot of nonsense about "oo, it's from russia and they're stealing your information", but I think you'll find that's WhatsApp, FaceBook and suchlike. It's Zuckerberg, Bezos, Musk and the other multi billionaires who have the casual attitude towards data privacy. After all, automatically scouring your address book and joining up all your contacts with each other has got to be good for business, yes? Even if it does mean that your recent lingerie and lube purchases get turned into recommendations sent to your boss and your grandmother 🤣🤣🤣

I use it for group socials and to talk to my favourite people. It’s probably my most used app

I don’t go looking for random groups to join

You don't have to give strangers your telephone number.

Therefore, you won't get random calls from private numbers at 2am .

I’d rather just share numbers and use WhatsApp. If someone doesn’t want to share numbers then I’m not going to share bodily fluids.

Occasionally I’ll join a group chat on telegram for an organised social but group chats aren’t really my thing so more often or not I’ll leave the chat
