So we have

1. Some random people we know

2. Friends

3. Inner circle of friends

4 Best friend/s

At what level would you expect trust to be there? And if you felt someone in say level 4 couldn't be trusted...would you move then into another level?

3.

I don't really trust or distrust 'Fab Friends' as I don't know them well enough. I just don't tell them anything that could cause me problems if they weren't trustworthy.

Somewhere In The Ether…

That’s a great question! 😃

Absolutely, if a friend I’d designated as a higher tier let me down trust wise, I’d immediately relegate them to a lower division (unless it was a huge breach of trust in which case I’d end the friendship full stop).

Trust is earned over time for me and in degrees of said trust, so it would be a steady climb up the aforementioned divisions.

I think 3 does it. But I can’t trust myself half the time, especially in MacDonalds.

All people I know are at level 1 so I don’t particularly trust anybody.

Even best friends have let me down in the past, which is why they’re out of my life.

I don't n't grade my friends in the same way as you OP. I tend to make note of their strengths and weaknesses and interact with them accordingly; one is my greatest friends is a nightmare when d*unk so I never go out drinking with them but they, like me, enjoy hiking and cycling, and we've had some brilliant times doing those things together.

If you’re a friend then I expect you to act like a friend, whatever the level of closeness.

I expect there to be a level of trust from all people I interact with.

From a level 1 I would expect to not be lied to or misled but I wouldn't be telling them my deep dark secrets.

If someone breaks my trust its very hard to get it back. If you're lower tiered then it's highly doubtful I will interact with you again unless I have no choice. I don't know how I would react if they were in my 3/4 category as its never happened but it takes a lot for me to let someone in at that level in the first place.

I definitely don't trust myself full stop...some of the decisions I've made have been very questionable

I think we've all experienced someone who we thought we could trust letting us down at some point.

I'm borderline if they are just friends, I think my trust comes in when it's inner circle x

Trust them to what degree?

Keep a secret about what your husband bought for your birthday or with your life?

I wouldn't move them anywhere apart from being an ex friend. Trust is very important to me and if it's broken I will never trust them again. Learnt this the hard way.

I expect trust at 2 but don't rely on it until 4.

If someone breaks my trust with something important they're out of my life immediately. With small things it takes longer.

All over

Tbh I expect it all the time if something I specifically said in confidence but in reality only one or two people. I am known for being trusted, sometimes possibly a bit OTT, but not everyone is that way so I exercise cautiousness.

Anyone I'd call a friend I'd have to trust. I have friends and I have acquaintances....

I'm quite picky who I call a friend. Too fussy maybe but I dont trust easily. Been burnt too many times 🥺

The bulk of my friends are in number 3 and we trust each other with daily issues and family troubles.

I have a couple of friends in number 4 and strangely though they are people I met through fab.

Even within the term best friend though there are levels.

One of those I trust with me totally and without limits as she does me. We chat every single day and support each other through good and bad. The way I've always described our friendship is that we can be completely naked with each other without taking our clothes off.

The other besties I only see now and again and while I know I can trust them with anything I tell them, I'm not always in a position to have those conversations with them and we only see each other every couple of months or so.
