Just by getting on with it

Had it most my life I got sick with colitis at age 13, eventuslly it got better of me at 28 or 29 when I needed surgery to remove large intestine, in that time I can honestly say it never cost me a day of work despite the stomach pains being so bad it was making me physically sick at times, I worked for self so had no choice

Sane when I had my heart attack 2021 I discharged self from hospital and went back to work the next day and the gym that night

If anything they just make me even more determined to succeed

It's a very wide scope and definition, is the word "adversity".

.

If it's a person being adversarial, then I'll seek to understand what is driving their adversity. It's typically only 1 of 3 common denominators.

Once I identify the source of their adversity, I can then help them overcome it, and move them in to an non-adversarial position. A lot of listening, de-escalation, empathising and then practical work. And that includes work on myself too, because if someone reacts to me adversarially , I need to identify that stressor so I can modify it myself. It might be me giving off the wrong vibe, and I can easily change that.

.

If it's some thing being adversarial, then I look at what it's supposed to do, and look for why it's not doing it. Hard logic and analysis, essentially.

.

I enjoy both challenges considerably because I am an architect in terms of people, processes and things.

Shit happens

But yeah, the stress happens, it’s frustrating, then needs a plan to sort it out and get past it.

Some days, no fucks given, some days a lot of swearing.

There’s no higher ground, do the possible first, try and fix it, if it can’t be fixed then look to be a bit more philosophical on what’s not in my direct control or influence.

But ultimately it’s all temporary and will pass.

Depends on the situation but often a mix of things. Try to mininise stress and can be pragmatic and know that stressing will not resolve anything so pull myself up and get on with it. I am also a strong believer in prevention so try to do as much of that if possible. If it is about others, I try to be a rock and support and minimise the impact on them but sometimes sadly at the expense of my own well being. There has also been the odd occasion of burying the head for a period to recoup the strength to tackle something. Lastly, of I can, I take breaks, little holidays, eat lovely food and cake, talk to or meet with people and of course pop on here too for some escape. Phew, this was catharctic Mrs NC. Ever thought of doing therapy sessions?

Delightful Bliss

I hunker down and keep going, then as soon as an opportunity arises I run away for a escapism weekend, that takes the sting out of returning to it.

Depends on the type of adversity really.

But generally, I’m pretty much a get on with it type.

It would depend on the adversity.

Generally break it down into what is out of my control and what is under my control. Stuff out of my control, don't think about. Deal with the stuff I can change.
