Somewhere In The Ether…

Ey up good folks 🤗 (booby fondle)

Today I’d like to talk about fish.

Do you like fish?

Do you eat fish? If so, what is your favourite fish?

Have you ever caught a fish or else possibly, have you ever been eaten by a shark?

Anchovies - what the fuck are they?

Do you like listening to Scooter’s dance hit, ‘How Much Is The Fish’? (I thought it was complete shit if I’m being honest, but there you go)

Anything fish related in fact; Please discuss 👍🏻

I studied fish at uni and did my "research" in the Red Sea.

I don't eat them or anything from the sea/river...only bc i think they're gross. Even the idea of prawn cocktail crisps repulses me (and they've never even seen a prawn)

I used to watch Marine Boy cartoon when I was a kid, a mates dad took us fishing near Teddington Lock in the 70's.

I caught 3 mackerel off St Ives.

I've had gold fish, black moors and various fancy cold water fish over several years. A Pleco that grew huge.

Worked in Fish n chip shops. Always have prawn cocktail before Xmas dinner.

I love Charlie Binghams fish pie.

My car broke down on hanger lane near Paul's Plaice fish n chip shop.

Fooled a work mate into thinking I ate a live gold fish, it was a slice of carrot.

Wrestled a tiger shark off a holiday maker in Mediterranean, just made that up.

My favourite meal Cod n chips.

First time I had trout in a hotel in Leicester 1989.

Had sea bass two weeks ago.

Threw a dead fish on the bonnet of a car in a mafia style threat, an offer he couldn't refuse in the bin.

They were quite nice in fact.

I don't eat much fish anymore, tbh. I've never been into shellfish, but did used to eat some fish.

I worry about over fishing and the impact on the environment.

As for sharks, maybe that's what happened to my left leg and maybe I'm just so traumatised that I've forgotten? I think that's my new origins story

I've a fish shop close by that only opens when it has fresh fish of the boats. The haddock is beautiful when cooked fresh.

My son is a keen fisherman and I get plenty mackerel in the summer and cod in the winter, although the cod has been a bit sparce so far this year.

Love fish! Particularly enjoy a seared or smoked mackerel or trout. I once caught a teeny tiny fish in a plastic cup. No fish have eaten me, not even those nibbly foot fish that used to live in shopping centres. Anchovies are delicious and should be on every pizza. Scooter can get out. I once had a goldfish called Goldie.

We had salmon for dinner last night, I suppose that's probably my favourite fish to eat. I do like tuna though, especially mixed with pasta or in a baguette or panini with melted cheese 😋. White fish is okay but I wouldn't normally order it, I'd generally go for a sausage from the chippy, although that's just reminded me, I really enjoy a halibut or swordfish steak if I'm in a Mediterranean restaurant. Shellfish can stay in the sea though.

When I was at university I worked on the fish counter of a major supermarket at the weekends. Occasionally I'd halfhinch a peppered smoked mackerel fillet if they were going out of date during my shift.

Once I very nearly slit my wrist opening some oysters for a customer. I did learn how to fillet the different types of fish though, a good life skill.

Before I went to uni I used to go course fishing with my friends. I even entered a couple of matches in the fishing club we were members of. The biggest one I caught was a 1lb 6oz mirror carp. I wasn't very good at fishing but we had lots of adventures on our bikes.

It seems I've led a much fishier existence that I thought when I started typing.

I am confused!

Why dont we put candles in fishcake?

Do dogfish bark? And do catfish knock things off shelves on purpose?

If something seems fishy, why is it not a fishtery?

Is there always a bigger fish? Cause surely, there has to be a biggest whale shark right!

And most of all.....we know fish dont have fingers but did cap'n birdseye actualy have seagull eyes!?🤔

Made the mistake of buying a huge wedge of tuna from a cafeteria in Milton Keynes shopping mall, it was like trying to eat papier mache, it was brutal, painful and bloody hard work. It took all my endurance to masticate my way through 2 inches of 4. It was like man vs food. I lost the will to live at various stages. Other diners were looking at me, face contorted and angry. Never again.

I love fish. Picking a favourite is almost impossible but "proper" kippers, wild salmon, rainbow trout and flatfish (like sole or plaice) are all up there.

"Have you ever caught a fish or else possibly, have you ever been eaten by a shark?"

I've never been fishing; I don't understand fishing for sport. I've never been eaten by a shark but I have eaten shark. Well, I've eaten ray wings and rays are basically sharks.

"Anchovies - what the fuck are they?"

Small fish. The ones you buy in jars are cured (brined) and not very nice. If you can find pickled anchovies try those instead - they taste much better without all the saltiness!

"Anything fish related in fact; Please discuss"
