According to a bit of internet searching (as I've never had it and was intrigued) thrush cannot be passed on by oral sex, but it can be passed on from penetrative sex

And the internet says, 'like any other STI, the thrush bacteria cannot survive in the hot tub environment'

But as you say, it is common and easily treatable, so I hope it doesn't cause you too much bother and you get it sorted soon x

Lots of nasties can be passed on from oral only , that's why when I Go for a regular sti test they always do a throat and mouth swab. And according to my clinic, it's definitely on the rise. That's what makes me chuckle on here, you see in peoples bio, "safe sex only" and they have pics of them doing unprotected oral with different people.

Thrush isn't classed as a STI. Taking antibiotics can cause it.

Thrush can be caused by using the wrong soap, it's not just sexually caught & could very easily happen from a hot tub.

couple, us we him her.

I'd imagine if anything it was probably the hot tub.

We always avoid club hot tubs ewwwww no thanks.

Only place we use them is BGHS as they have strict rules about playing even if it's ones self it's a no no.

Certainly don't want to get in a hot pool of congealed spunk floating around like egg whites after cooking poached eggs.

That's exactly what I was thinking to at the time we was both so horny and it was our first time in the hot tub at a club. We didn't think of it never again that's for sure!

North East Scotland, mostly

A couple of people have already said it - thrush isn’t an STI which you catch. It can develop for many reasons, including tight clothing, harsh soaps, a lot of sexual activity, a course of antibiotics. So being in the hot tub may have brought it on but you wouldn’t catch it from there, if that makes sense.

It’s easily treatable with cream, a pessary or a tablet which you can buy in any chemist. Hope it settles soon

Gonorrhoea can be passed by kissing and oral. It can cause conjunctivitis in eyes too. It usually takes around a week for symptoms to appear. Symptoms are not always apparent.

It is “on the rise”.

Just like to throw in that thrush can also be caused by undiagnosed diabetes.

It's actually how i found out i had it, i had reocurrunt trhush flare up - suspected it was from getting oral so had sti testsand all were negative, went to my gp who confirmed it was thrush and gave me canestan, after it kept coming back, i had blood tests done and confirmed diabetes, not had a single outbreak in 5 months since getting blood sugars under control. Jta caused by the aditional sugars in your urine

This

I avoid them as people always play in them unless the tubs are monitored, the amount of crud in them is

Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Havant

Actually … hot tubs particularly are great for a social meet and greet

But please shower before hand … at the temperature they tend to run at it’s a great opportunity for a poo stew

Hygiene is absolutely essential. I study conducted in Paris suggested that every person entering a public hot tub carries half a tea spoon of poo in with them. Being a public domaine this simply multiplies

Ok anti bacterial chemicals are used but the real danger area is at the water line this margin carries the bugs

Please … I know sone people are eating their breakfast but listen up … cleanliness is next to godliness !!

Wait 2 weeks and don’t play with anyone. Purchase a full test kit with swabs. Bosh, playing safer

Go to a GP in the interim if you have concerns

True it's fungal. Thrives in warm, moist conditions.

Equally, if you sat down anywhere, without knickers on, or even the towel you may have been given. Lots of places it can be picked up from. Including fingers.

If , and I mean if the club has stuck rigidly to the hygiene rules around hot tubs you shouldn't have caught anything from there , they are supposed to be checked for chlorine levels every day which kills 99% of bacteria and viruses

I have quite a delicate vaginal flora and lots of things can irritate me which is why I avoid hottubs at clubs. They are pumped full of chemicals that can irritate you. Also lots of things can cause thrush, including hormone changes and stress, it's an overgrowth of a natural fungus that lives on us all the time rather than a bacterial infection etc. It could have nothing to do with the club but if you have symptoms that could be an STI I would suggest getting tested for peace of mind. Best to be sure.

Yeah, we wouldn't even consider using any of the hot tubs in clubs. You only have to see or smell some people's bad hygiene.....that's enough for us to avoid.

As swingers we all have to accept some element of risk though.

Hope you get it sorted OP. Thrush is mega annoying. Check any lubes as they can contribute to pH imbalance. Xx

Worthwhile pointing out, thrush is common in men too and can happen at any time.

Womens creams work on men and can sort you out right quick. No one is immune to anything x
