Mens aftershave

Hi, this is more for the ladies of fab…

I want to know what aftershave you have smelled on men that you love. I know this could bring 20 different answers because personal opinions will mostly be different. I have been wearing Montblanc Explorer for the last year or so and people do say it smells good.

My problem is in my younger days I lost about 95% of my smelling sense, so I pretty much can’t tell what I even smell like. I can’t choose one based on my own opinion as I can’t smell them!

Any help is appreciated

True they smell different on different people. Over the years Aventus has gone through minor formulation changes.

We get ours now made by a perfumer at the fraction of the cost tweaked to the original formulation. Some we hold as concentrates for dabbing as opposed to spraying.

Original Santos de Cartier renains my all time favourite for many years and always some of it in the cupboard (a bit expensive but not as much as some trendy ones that don't compare). Prada Amber Pour Homme is another favourite. Ambercombie &Fitch similar to Prada but a lot cheaper. Several Tom Ford ones but Vanille and Neroli my favourite. A good old Patsouli sometimes for those 'darker' moments and of course Aqua di Parma and use several of the products, not just perfume

I have tried most of the ‘popular ones’ but the one I call my ‘old faithful’ is Bleu de Chanel.

It’s my own particular favourite and the one that gets me the most compliments.

In fact I have just ordered another bottle this morning.

It’s worth checking out.

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Is my current winter favourite also with TF Noir Extreme. I change them during the seasons. A heavy musk during the colder months then changing to a more lighter citrus smell during the warmer and summer days. Maison Margiela Jazz Club (this is a replica but fucking delicious!) is a great one for warmer days, also love Dior Sauvage and TF Neroli Portofino

I think smelling good is just as important as looking good

I think a lot of the people on here pop in Boots to have a quick spray up. Some of the recommendations are £120- £200 a bottle. With some mentioning 2 or 3 as a preference.

I honestly could not tell you the name of any scent a man was wearing 🤷🏻‍♀️ as long as they smell clean I'm happy. When a cologne or aftershave is too strong or musky I find it off putting.

Similar to myself then, I have around 20 bottles but most I've spent is £70 on a bottle.

Some of the higher end suggestions are silly prices

Go to an outlet and have a look at some of Molton Brown fragrances

They do some really decent ones at reasonable cost

Suede Orris is a nice daytime fragrance

Geranium Nefurtum is nice too as is Dark Leather

Fragrance does depend on your own smell though, so get one that suits you

Also, don't buy on the spot

Have a spritz, go for a wander and see how it settles on you

If you like it when it settles, go back and buy it

Slightly off piste, who still buys perfume at duty free? Even the best prices are still so much more than what I can find what I like elsewhere, especially at certain times and with discount codes.Find it strange how expensive they are. Though very good of course for topping up before you board.

I’m very pleased my aftershaves don’t come up in these threads as it means I’m not wearing what everyone seems to be wearing.

Obviously they’d be out of business if no one bought it but it’s clearly not the most popular and that’s good for me

In my teens it was Brut, then Drakkar noir, then Joop my favourite and always get good comments.

Recently I bought Rabanne 1 Million Elixir Parfume Intense and love the smell.

My nephew uses Initio Oud for Greatness and it's amazing but expensive, it's next on my list.
