I’ve thought about this question before. And for a long time.

My conclusion is - I wish I knew. There’s a million things and also nothing in particular.

I think it’s person specific. Maybe. Or hormonal/emotional/situational.

Equally that desire can be quashed in a heartbeat for seemingly no reason.

I don’t know how to even begin to define this.

It could be a look in their eye, a sound, a scent, the way they hold their head or gesture with their hands. It could be anticipation of what’s to come or the shirt they’re wearing. Fuck I once watched a guy eating some grapes on the train and the way he closed eyes and his head fell back with every swallow was practically indecent.

I agree though some women may not be the best looking women in the world but they ooze sex appeal. Others maybe pretty but I wouldn't be interested in sex. Like Cybil Shepherd, was pretty but never did anything for me.

Others like J Lo just ooze sex. Tbh it's not the perfume or the clothes, some of them could wear a brown sack & make it look sexy. I've always preferred the girl next door types rather than TV people anyway.

Big question.

I start getting to know someone, enjoying their company and then there's a little bit of magical pixie dust and it's just there.

All of a sudden my recognition that someone is an attractive person, turns into a felt experience of attraction. It just pops in. It's the things they say, how they say it, but also their mannerisms. Hand gestures, eye contact, touch. Their sense of humour. How they think, explore their ideas and passions.

It has to be nurtured, but the nurturing has to not be for the sake of creating attraction, as that then feels like a game.

Yes my behaviour is affected, I can go from being practically asexual to quite a primal lust. Depends very much on the person and the relationship.
