I like that, nice that it still holds a fascination for you. Some paintings are so insanely epic. I'd probably spend days finding crazy stuff in a Hieronymus Bosch painting and not even scratch the surface

The last musuem we went into was the newer Musuem in Liverpool on the waterfront a couple of years back.

In terms of art - I much prefer street art now, it’s so amazing what street artists can do. We live near Cleethorpes and there are a lot of houses with incredible paintings. They have a street art trail too which is great…❤️

The Louvre, straight to the Mona Lisa only to be quite dissappointed with the size of it.

The guy was a genius though and painting was just one of his many amazing skills, so hard not to still gaze at it with the upmost respect.

To be fair there were lots of paintings in those halls that were amazing. I can draw pretty well, certainly pencil portraits but wow those paintings! Incredible.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

In my previous job I travelled the country extensively and had often had time to kill during the day. The one that I enjoyed was the William Morris Museum in Walthamstow - I like a bit of Arts and Crafts, and my lounge is decorated with William Morris wallpaper.

I also took a friend to Salts Mill in Saltaireba couple of years ago, which we both enjoyed, too.

Terrible set out, massive open spaces of nothing, music playing and the videos were to loud so it was just noise.

"Accidentally Wes Anderson last year. It was very enjoyable although technically not art as it was all photos.

Photography is an art form in itself. Love a photo. I saw "London calling" a few years back at the museum of London. Lots of photos and memorabilia as well as music from one of the best British punk bands that ever lived "

One of the best bands full stop, have to agree with you about photography being art as well.

"Gallery in Bath, last summer. Local art, antiques and collectables auction, last Saturday.

Did you buy anything?"

Bath gallery was just for a nose.

Not this time at the auction, but generally go at least monthly. Picked up some bits of studio glass last time.

An exhibition by a life drawing group I occasionally model for. They had some excellent pieces there and it was amusing to stand next to people as they discussed me in the picture without them realising it was me.

I remember back in tbe 80s/90s there was a group of artists known as the Mutoid waste company that made installations from reclaimed objects with a Mad Max vibe about them. Would usually find them at outdoor or squat raves

It’s performance art. It’s exposing the deep seated social pressures we all face in using full stops.

I prefer museums if I’m honest, or old cathedrals and castles.

Quirky museums and old churches are my go to, and the streets of London are literally an art gallery that is constantly changing. "

I was in Ireland at the beginning of January. Check out the cathedral in cork. It's a weird one. I do love Architecture of old buildings.

Last art I saw must've been on the same trip in Dublin, I believe at trinity college in Dublin. The art & architecture is worth the trip.

I like some graffiti but I also found the exhibition a bit odd in the sense they were glorifying illegal graffiti.

It was still very interesting to get the artists perspective of it all.

I need tp enrich my life again with more exploration of the arts as a whole. It used to feed my soul. Life takes over and you forget that you need all that too. Time to reignite the passion, me thinks. Anyone for an art day out, coffee and cake to fuel the soul and the belly?

That is very appealing, thanks. I do know a few wonderful places in London to indulge in art and culinary delights thugh some have changed over the years as things do. But as said earlier the Wallace collection is one of my favourite and at certain times very peaceful for reflection. Then off round the corner for a ceasar salad, a panacotta and a cheeky glass of champs

"Liverpool Walker Art Gallery, go every few months when there’s a new exhibit on display."

I'll check it out if I do get up that way

"I so need to get into London and see some galleries. I need an art buddy. Any takers?

Keep an eye out for the museum social run by "a German in London" and Steven pickles picnics are usually a stones throw from a few galleries and awesome street art.

Museum social sounds amazing!

It's usually a good bunch that attend. The organisers really put their all into their events.

Art openings / galleries / museums are great places to go on dates or as a place to meet someone to get to know them.

Very true. I have had a few in the past at Tate Modern and the museum of London.

There could be a thread there - hook ups, encounters or generally intimacy that happened at galleries or after meeting there.

Any horny men at the Horniman museum

LOL - knew someone would make that joke!

I'm nothing if not predictable "

I do remember going to the National Gallery on a late opening Friday and seeing loads of people there on dates

"Wolverhampton Art Gallery. Today. I go every week as a group I'm in meets there. I love looking at the paintings when I'm there and have spent a long time looking at one and still find new things occasionally (it's basically the size of a wall)

I like that, nice that it still holds a fascination for you. Some paintings are so insanely epic. I'd probably spend days finding crazy stuff in a Hieronymus Bosch painting and not even scratch the surface

"

I want to see the Peter Bruegel collection as his work is of the same school as Bosch. Bosch is more religious, whereas Bruegel is more secular.

Without these two there would be no Lowry or Where's Wally/Stig and everything else in between.
