Also what is your favourite romantic book ever?

Like all humans he's loveable in his vulnerable moments and we empathise with his damage. That empathy is shortlived though due to him putting people in boxes, mind boggling.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I was somewhat sympathetic to Joe until the end of the last season (which was sadly the weakest in my opinion albeit credit to the different direction) whereupon he seemed to embrace his most nefarious side.

I’ll watching the last series with interest though 😃

I had no idea that show was still going.

(I’ve totally got a crush on Love, though.)

I honestly really hate Joe. But I sometimes really feel sorry for him. It’s strange. To me, he’s basically an even crazier version of Jay Gatsby.

Victoria Pedretti is stunning and has excellent fashion and music taste. I loved her Love but was glad when they moved on from her

Lovable. No.

Well written in such a way that you sympathise, empathise and root for the blatant villain. Very much so.

The pov aspect and inner monologue does so much in that regard. It gets less after season 1 for obvious reasons but still you are sort of still wanting him to get through it due to the spin it puts on him vs others.

Season 3 was the big turning point toward him being less of somebody you can empathise with. Largely because to do so they had to make the other likable characters seem insane. And I expect that will continue.

"Victoria Pedretti is stunning and has excellent fashion and music taste."

I’m uninterested in the actor and her real life personality. I have a crush on the character. I love Love.

I hated him throughout season 4. And even though Love was a psycho I got a bit sick of Joe’s obvious love addiction through season 3 too.

Also glossing over the implication that Pickles thinks the serial killer story is romantic.

Did it finish with some woman sitting in the garden next door or am I thinking of something else?

I've read the books and really enjoyed them but watched about four eps of the first Netflix series and hated it. Was nothing like I imagined in my head when reading the books. They totally over romanticised things when in the books he comes across as a creepy fucking weirdo, in the series I didn't get that vibe at all. Was very disappointed

THANK YOU! It was really hard for me to choose between Persuasion and Jane Eyre. I love them both so much.

I don't know who Joe Goldberg is.

And I don't know if I have a favourite romantic book. Am I broken?

Yes! I struggled with his second book but still loved reading it. I love him just because reading his books is the first time in my life I’ve read anything that has felt so familiar. Characters, language, locations etc.

To me, "favourite book" is like "favourite organ". My brain is kinda important but my heart is too... and I'd be fucked without my liver. Favourite? *hoards*

I haven't read either but I have both his books on my kindle! I'm definitely interested in the sound of Open Water.

The way he did Ellie in season 2 was when I was fully over it with him but I held out hope that Love would change him.

I struggle with this series. I have watched it, and I keep hoping that he'll get what he deserves.
